BOX-LID HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J OSEPH C. FELDMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Box-Lid Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a device particularly adapted for holding cigar-box covers and for exhibiting a sign in connection therewith.
It includes means for holding the box-lid at various angles and is capable of being apmay be used repeatedly.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a cigar-box to which the device is attached. Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is an end view of a catch-piece, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the bracket which the catch engages.
Referring specifically to the drawings, 10 refers to a cigar-box of the usual construction having a hinged lid 10 a bottom 10 sides 10, and ends 10.
11 refers to a sliding spring-clip consisting of a top plate 1 1 and a spring-under piece or tongue 11 projecting from which is a hooked finger-piece 11 for sliding the clip in and out.
11 is a small tongue or lip projecting at the lower outer corner of the plate 11 and The tongue 11 is adapted to engage one of a series of notches in the bracket 12, so as to adjust and hold the cover of the box at such an angle or position as may be desired. A
The bracket 12 is adapted to be placed on a cigar-box and is removable. It consists of i a plate 12, having a vertical slot 12* extend-' ing upwardly from its lower edge, and one or more flanges 12 at the edges of the slot, which grasp the side of the box and hold the plate in position thereon.

By the use of this device the cover of the box may be placed in any desirable position and will remain so when the box is handed to a customer to select his cigars. The cover is set as desired by simply sliding the clamp 11 back slightly and then moving the cover and then sliding the clamp so that the tongue l1 will engage one of the notches 12 in the bracket.
I claim A holder for box-lids comprising a plate having a slot in its lower edge adapted to receive the wall of the box, the rear portion of the plate being offset laterally at the slot, to rest upon the edge of the end of the box and to stand beyond theend of the box-lid and having a series of'notches at different angles, and a clip embracing the edge of the lid and slidable in or out thereon and having a pr0- j ection engageable with one of the notches.
