FLY-PAPER HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed May 14, 1913.
Patented June 9, 1914.
Serial No. 767,572.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that T, PETER P. MOM'ENA- MIN, a citizen of the United States, and re siding at Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly Paper Holders, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to means for holding fly paper, and the object thereof is to provide an improved device of this class by means of which a sheet of fly paper may be held in the desired position and moved about from place to place without danger of its coming in contact with the hands or with various articles; a further object being to provide a fly paper holder the construction of which is such that it may be folded up in boxshaped form and opened again for use whenever desired; and with these and other objects in view the invention consists in a device of the class specified constructed as hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my invention are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved fly paper holder open, as when in use ;Fig. 2 a longitudinal central section on the line 22 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 a perspective view showing the holder folded up and in box form.
My improved fly paper holder may be made of sheet metal, card board, stiff paper or any other similar or suitable material, and comprises, in the form of construction shown, a main body or box-shaped member a, and folding end members 6. The main box-shaped member a is preferably oblong and rectangular in form and is provided with raised sides a and raised ends a the raised ends a being preferably about half the height of the raised sides a The folding end members I) are pivoted in the end portions of the main box-shaped member a, as shown at 79 and comprise back portions 6 having sides 5", the sides being preferably shorter than the back members 12 and the free edges of the back members 5 are provided with inwardly folded lips or flanges b and corresponding opposite side edges are provided with projecting ears or flanges b which rest on the edges of the sides a of the main box-shaped member, when the parts of the device are folded together, as shown in Fig. 3. The position of the pivotal points Z2 of the end members 6 is such that when said end members are extended, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, they rest at an inclination on the raised end portions a of the main box-shaped member a and are supported in this position when the device is in use.
This device is intended for holding standard sheets of fly paper, and in practice, or in the use thereof, a sheet 0 of such paper is placed therein with the ends thereof inserted beneath the lips or flanges b and with the ends 6 extended as shown in Fig. 1, the device may be placed on a table, in a window, or on any support wherever desired, and when not in use the said device may be folded up, as shown in Fig. 3, and may be carried about from place to place without danger of the hands, or of various articles, coming in contact with the sticky substances on the paper.
It will be understood that my improved fly paper holder may be made of any desired dimensions and of any preferred material, and while I have shown the preferred form thereof, it will also be understood that various changes in and modifications of the construction herein shown and described may be made, within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages.
The ears 5 in addition to holding the parts in box-shaped form also prevent the end portions 7) when folded from dropping down into the box and prevent the ends of the folding sheet of fiy paper from sticking on the central portion thereof or coming in contact therewith. The fact that the side flanges 6* of the folding end members are shorter than said members also provides means whereby the ends of the sheet of fly paper may be taken hold of and removed from the holder when necessary.
Having fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent is 1. A fly paper holder comprising a main body portion having folding ends, the folding ends being provided at their free edges with inwardly folded lips, and being normally held, when open, in an inclined position, said main body portion and folding ends being provided with raised side edge portions.
2. A fly paper holder comprising a main part having folding end portions, said main part and end portions being adapted to be folded into box form, and means for hold ing an extended sheet of fly paper in said device when the ends thereof are extended, and whereby said sheet of fly paper may be folded up in and with the holder.
3. A fly paper holder, comprising a main rectangular body portion having raised sides and raised ends and folding end members having raised sides, the sides of the folding end members being pivoted to the raised sides of the main body portion, and said folding end members being provided at their free edges with inwardly folded flanges forming clips adapted to hold the ends of a sheet of paper.
4. A fly paper holder, comprising a main rectangularbody portion having raised sides and raised ends and folding end members having raised sides, the sides of the folding end members being pivoted to the raised sides of the main body portion, and said folding end members being provided at their free edges with inwardly folded flanges forming clips adapted to hold the ends of a sheet of paper, said end members being adapted when extended to rest on the raised ends of the body portion and to be held thereby in an inclined position.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of the subscribing witnesses this 12th day of May 1913.
