In the drawingi A is the shank or handle of the hammer. A', the hollow or chamber.

The hammer may be constructed of a single casting, either of iron or steel, or the shank A may be of castiron, and the face or poll B and the claw C may be oi' steel, and inserted into the shank in any convenient mechanical way, as we do not confine the invention to any particular method ofconstruction, provided the general `nature of our implement is preserved, and a useful article obtained, either for the household ecpnomy or for the bill-poster. Even the regular mechanic may find it suitable in many cases where-the' cumbersome hammer may incominode his operations.
