Description

No. 825,257. PATENTED JULY 3, 1906..
A. M. WILSON.
HOSE SUPPORTBR. APPILIYUATION nun mas, 1906 W %%7 1 By M ATTMNEYS UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HOSE-SUPPQR'FER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 3, 1906.
Application filed March 3, 1905. Serial No. 248,273.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT MoN oE WIL- SON, a citizen of the United States, and aresident of Cherokee, in the county of Cherokee and State of Iowa, have inventednew and Improved Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a full, clear, and; exact description.
The invention relates to hose-support'ers such, for instance, as shown and described in the Letters Patent of the United States N 0. 755,97 9, granted to me March 29, 1904.
The object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved hose-supporter and belt forthe same arranged to provide an abdominal pad without danger of forming wrinkles and binding the wearer on walking, stooping, or bending sidewise, to obviate the use of undesirable metallic connecting-pieces, and to form a convenient means for the attachment of the hose-supporter straps of ordinary construction or such as shown and described in my patent above referred to.
The invention consists of novel features and arts and combinations of the same, as will fife more fully described hereinafter and then pointed out in the claims.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the improvement. Fig. 2 is an enlarged sectional plan view of the same on the line 2 2 of Fig. l, and Figs. 3 and 4 are front elevations of modified forms of the improvement.
The waistband A (shown in Fig. 1) has a portion A between its ends folded or doubled up to form diverging members A A which constitute the V-shaped front of the waistband. The waistband A can be opened or closed for conveniently applying it to the wearers body or removing it therefrom, and for this purpose a buckle B is provided secured to one end of the waistband and adapted to receive the other end thereof, the buckle being preferably attached to the terminal of one of the diverging members A or A A band C is placed around the folded-up portion A and the lower ends of the members A and A and the band is secured by said waistband portions to maintain the members A and A in a diverging position and to form an abdominal pad, which is preferably rectangular in shape.
The doubled-up portion A forms a loop stitches D to the.
for receiving the eye E of a supportingguide E, in which slides freely a cord F, secured at its ends by stitches D to the band C, at the sides thereof, the said band being formed at its sides into eyes C for the reception of the said cord ends, as plainly indicated in Fig. 2, the eyes C lying outside the outer side edges of the members A A". The cord F formsloops between its attached. ends and the supporting-guide E, and the said cord-loops are engaged by strap-guides G, pivotally connected with the hangers H of straps I, having the usual ends J and attaching. devices for engaging the hose at opposite sides.
In the modified form shown waistband A- portion secured to the band C, which forms the abdominal pad and from which extend the diverging members A and A of the waistband, the member A free end the buckle B, to which the other end of the waistband is adapted to be secured. From the band C depend the straps I, carrying the usual ends J, having devices for engaging the hose at opposite sides.
In the modified form shown in Fig. 4 the waistband A has one diverging member A and a separate band A forms the other diverging member, the members A and A crossing each other at the band C, and the said members are extended below the said band to form integral straps A and A having the usual ends I provided with attaching devices for engaging the hose at opposite sides. The free end of the member A is provided with a buckle B for receiving the end of the waistband A to secure the latter in position on the wearers body.
By the arrangement described the waistband is provided with an abdominal pad adapted to extend over the abdominal region of the user of the device, and the abdominal pad is made of a flexible material, so as to readily conform to the said abdominal portion.
In the device shown in Fig. 1 the cord F on account of being free to travel in the supporting-guide E readily accommodates uneven pull of the hose-straps I, especially when the person is walking, stooping, or bending sidewise, and at the same time the pull exerted by the cord F on the ends of. the band C tends to hold the latter at all times in proper position relative to the abdominal portion of the wearers body.
in Fig. 3 the has its folded or doubled-up.
carrying at its Having thus described my invention, I I a diverging V-shape position, a supporting claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A hose-supporter belt comprising a waistband folded upon itself at the front intermediate of its ends, to form diverging members, a band-like pad passed around the folded portions, to maintain the members in a diverging V-shape position, a buckle for connecting and disconnecting the ends of the said waistband at one side, a distance above the said pad, and hose-straps depending from the pad.
2. A hose-supporter comprising a waistband folded upon itself at the front, to form diverging members, a pad secured to the folded portions, to maintain the members in a diverging V-shape position, hose-supporting straps, and a device carrying the said hose-supporting straps, the device having connection with the said folded portion of the waistband and the said pad.
3. A hose-supporter comprising a waist-' band folded upon itself at the front, to form diverging members, a pad secured to the folded portions, to maintain the members in guide hung in the folded portion of the waistband, a cord formed into separate loops and fixed at its ends to the sides of the said pad, the cord having a sliding connection with the said supporting-guide, and hose-straps having strap-guides running freely in the said loops.
4. A hose supporter belt comprising a Waistband folded upon itself at the front to form diverging members, a band passed around the folded portion and secured thereto, to maintain the members in a diverging position; the said band forming a rectangular abdominal pad, hose-supporting straps, and means for connecting the hose-supporting straps with the folded portion of the Waistband and with the pad.
' In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ALBERT MONROE WILSON. I
