Description

gni-teh tatraatmt @Hirn JOHN M. LOSIE, OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.'
Leners Patent No. 82,012, dated sepamm 8.1868.
IMPROVED SPRING-BED BOTTOM.
TO ALL WHOM I'I MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, JOHNM. LOSIE, of Indianapolis, in the county of Marion, and in the State of Indiana, have invented an Improvement in Spring-Bed Bottoms; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, andexact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures oi' reference marked thereon. Y
The nature of the invention consists in-the construction and use of the device hereinafter described, said device to be'made of ironor brass, or any other convenient metal, and vulcanized rubber, or any other suitable material. I 4 l To enable others skilled'ln the art to make and use my said invention, I proceed to'describe'it more fully,
as follows: y
E F G, of Figure 2 of the .accompanying drawings, represent a plate ofmetal, slotted between E and F,
and corrugated at E in manner and formas there delineated, H H It, of Figure -3 of the accompanying draw ings, represent a piece of vulcanite elastic gum, of the form there delineated. A B'C, of Figure 1 of accom- 4panying drawings, represent a section of a Kriegnoffs patent springbed bottom.
To use my said invention, two of the plates of metal represented by iig. 2 are -laid together, so that the corrugated surfaces at e e will face each other. The piece of gum represented by H H k of fig. 3 is nowplaced between the corrugated surface e e, and the whole fastened, by a convenient bolt, to the frame of the spring-bed, in manner and form as represented by the appropriate letters in saidjig.
When the said device has been so arranged, it will be found that, if the frame of the spring-bottom'should havev any side motion against the head-board, foot-board,lor .side rails, the stroke will be broken, and no sound produced, for the rubber will strike the wood of the bedstead noiselessly.
The device may be interposed at any placeiwhere the frame of the spring-bottom strikes the wood of the bedstead, and applied to any spring-bottom of proper shape and construction. i
By means ot' the slot between E and F, the device may be adjusted so that it will t the size of any bedvstead that may be desired, and at any angle that maybe convenient.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is The slotted metallic plates E F, constructed as described, in combination with the elastic'gum H, as and for the purpose speciied.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing specification, I have hereunto set my hand, this 4th day ofAugust, 1868.
' JOHN M. Losln.'
