UNITED STATES -PATENT OEEIoEc MOSES POND, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
IM PROVEM ENT IN STOVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 69,837, dated October 15, 1867.
To all persons to whom'these presents shall come:
Be it known that I, MOSES POND, of Boston, in,` the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Stoves; and I do hereby declare the same to be fully described in the following specification, and represented in the accompanying drawing, which denotes a longitudinal section of a stove with my invention applied to it, such section being taken through the fastening-bolts of the stove.
In such drawing, A denotes a stove of the common form, as composed of top and bottom plates, a b, end plates, c d, and two side plates, one of the latterfbeing seen at c. The top plate is connected to the bottom plate by means of long .screw-bolts f f, and nuts g g screwed on such bolts, and against blocks or pieces h h of vulcanized india -rubber, or its elastic equivalent, placed on the bolts and against the lower surface of the bottom plate.
These blocks of rubber are to allow the top plate of the stove to rise upward with the side and end plates when they are expanded by heat. It is frequently the case that the plate or plates of a stove, while held in place by' MOSES POND.
