PATENT FFICE.
THOMAS L. THOMPSON, OF KINGFISHER, OKLAHOMA TERRITORY.
WASHING COMPOUND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 789,891, dated May 16, 1905.
Application filed July 14:, 1904. Serial No. 216,598.
To all 1071,0721 it may concern:
Be it known that I, THoMAs L. THOMPSON, acitizen of the United States, residing at Kingfisher, in the county of Kingfisher and Territory of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Washing Oompounds; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to Which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in washing compounds.
The object of the invention is to provide a composition of matter to be used for washing clothes and the like which will greatly facilitate the cleaning of the same.
The compound consists of the following ingredients, combined in proportions stated, viz: sal-soda, one pound; pure refined paraffin, one pound; rosin, one-fourth pound; borax, onefourth pound; bicarbonate of soda, one-half ounce; laundry soap, one pound bar. These ingredients, with the exception of the parafiin, are to be thoroughly mixed in a suitable vessel. The mass is then heated until the whole is dissolved, after which it is removed from the fire and allowed to cool. The paraffin is then melted and thoroughly mixed with the other ingredients, after which the whole mass is poured into a pan or the like and permitted to cool and solidify, when, if desired, it may be cut into cakes or bars and is ready for use.
By the use of a compound such as herein described washing operations may be greatly facilitated and the dirt readily removed from the articles being Washed. The properties of the ingredients composing the preparation are such that when the compound is used in Washing clothes will render them White and clean.
Having thus described the nature of the invention, whatI claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The herein-described Washing compound,
- resulting from the admixture of the following ingredients and proportions thereof, one pound of sal-soda, one-fourth pound rosin, one-fourth pound borax, one-half ounce bicarbonate of soda, one pound of laundry soap, and one pound of melted pure refined paraffin, essentially as described.
