Description
nrrnn Srarns PATENT FFTCEQ JAMES HOAGLAND AND BARNHARD ZIPFEL, OF TOLEDO, OHIO.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 314,447, dated March 214, 1885.
Application tiled January 8, 1885,
To UZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JAMES HOAGLAND and BARNHARD ZIPFEL, citizens of the United States, residing at Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and Useful Improvements in Soap Compounds, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates 'to improvements in washing-compounds or soap, and is designed to produce a compound for use in Washing that shall remove all dirt and stains.
The compound consists of the following ingredients, mixed in about the proportions given, though not confined to the same,as different qualities of soap or other causes woiild necessitate a change of the said proportions: For one hundred pounds of soap is used twenty-two pounds oftallo\v,twenty-two pounds of sal-soda, (carbonate of soda) fourteen pounds of resin, one quart of nitk, one lemon, one pound of soapstone, and water of liin' formed by slaking five pounds of lime in twenty quarts of water free from salts, commonly known as soft water. The addition of the milk clarilather.
(No specimens.)
property of removing rust and other stains, such as produced by fruit. The soapstone produces a consistency and toughness by which waste or quick dissolving of the soap in Water is prevented.
The ingredients having been mixed, the compound is allowed to harden, and may then be cut into bars, cakes, or other shapes and packed for shipment and sale.
What we claim is 1. The hBlGil1-dSCllb8(1 compound for-soap, consisting in mixing tallow, satsoda, resin, milk, soapstone, and water of'lime in about the proportions specified, and for the purpose set forth.
2. The herein-described soap compound, consisting of'tallow, sal-soda, resin, milk, lemons, soapstone, and Water of lime, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof we aflix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
JAMES HOAGLAND. BARNHARD ZIPFEL.
