CLEANSING COMPOUND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 302,970, dated August 5, 1884-.

' citizen of the United States, resident of Pottsville, in the county of Schuylkill and State of and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the IO art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in compounds for removing stains, grease, tar, pitchpine, and
r paint from all description of wearing-apparel,
especially designed as an improvement upon Letterslatent dated May 2, 1882, and numbered 257, 381, and Letters Patent dated December 4, 1883, No. 289,621. In iny composition I employ several of the ingredients in the said Letters Patent, but with the addition of other ingredients, and in different proportions. I also dispense with some of the ingredients named in said patents, and by so doing produce a compound which is more effective and pleas- 0 ing in its work and appearance.
My composition consists of the following ingredients, combined in the proportions I stated, namely: deodorized gasoline, one gallon; the yelk of one egg; alcohol, three ounces; 7
oil citronella, half ounce; oil lavender, half ounce; sulphuric ether, three ounces. Mix the egg yolk with the alcohol and strain through a coarse muslin rag; cut the oil lavender and citronella in the sulphuric ether; then mix the alcohol, ether, and gasoline together and thoroughly mingle by agitation;
and for use in cleaning is applied the same as other analogous cleansing compositions.
The best Way of using the composition is to moisten a linen or cotton rag with the fluid and briskly rub the article to be cleaned with. the aforesaid rag.
This composition may be used upon the finest-and most delicate-colored fabrics, decorations, and wall-papers Without any injury to the colors or the material of the goods.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isv The herein-described cleaning compound, consisting of deodorized gasoline, sulphuric ether, alcohol, egg, oil citronella, and oil lavender, in the proportions herein specified, and for the purpose set forth.
