IMPROVED BUCKLE,
dit dghule rifarsi: tu im time man @nient :numbing nrt nt tigt sans.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONGERN:
Be it known that I, JOHN A. MASHMEYER, of`Beardstown, in the county of Cass, and State of Illinois, have invented a new and improved Buckle; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanyingv drawings, forming part of this specication.
This invention relates to a new and improved buckle, designed more especially for harnesses, but capable of very general application. A
The object of theinvention is to obtain a buckle which will admit of the parts itv connects being readily attached together and detached, and also readily taken up and let out, and one whichwill not abrade or injurev the parts connected by it inany way whatever.
The accompanying drawings represent- Figure 1, an outer or face view of my invention applied to a harness-trace and tug.
Figure 2, a longitudinal section ot' the same, taken in the line a: :z:,'g. 1.
Similar letters` of refercnce'indicate corresponding parts. I V
A represents the body or frame of the buckle, which is slightly curved in a longitudinal direction, and is cf skeleton form, or a rectangular frame, with a loop, a, at one engl, and a loopyb, at each side, as shown' clearly in ng. 1.
B represents the other-part of the buckle, which is also a frame, curved longitudinally, and having its sides fitted in notches c c, in the .surfaces o r edges of the sides d d of the body or frame A.
The outer-end bar e of the part D is provided with a pin or tongue, f, which projects inward at right angles from the outer-end bar e, and the inner-end bar g of B is iitted ina loop in the end of the tug-strap O.
D is the trace, perforated with holes LX, at a suitable distance apart.
The trace passes through the body or frame A of. the buckle, inside the end-bars L L, and lover intermediate bars z'z'of the same', .whilst'the pin or tonguefis passedi through one of the holes LX in the trace.
In order to detach the trace, all thatis required is simply to shoveoutward the part B of the buckle', so that the pin or tonguef will pass out of the hole LX in the trace.`
This buckle may be plated, japanned, or otherwise ornamented and protected in any proper Way. It is strong, neat, and durable, and does not bend or wear either the trace or tug-strap, or'other parts to which it may be applied.
I clairn as new, and desire to secure by LettersPatent- A buckle, composed ofthe two parts, AB, fitted together or arranged substantially as shown and described, and with the pin or tonguef applied to the part B, as set forth.
I JOHN A. MASHMEYER. Witnesses: I I
JonN BELL, Faun. W. IAAS.
