Be itknown that I, WILLIAM S. VVIsE, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Suspensories, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.

My invention has relation to improvements in suspensories; and it consists in the novel construction of suspensory more fully set forth in the specification and pointed out in the claims.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of the suspensory. Fig. 2 is a top plan thereof. Fig. 3 is a middle vertical section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 4. Fig. 4 is a front view thereof, a part of the pouch being broken away; and Fig. 5 is a portion of a side elevation, showing the neck of the suspensory-partially rolled or folded back.

The object of my invention is to construct a suspensory which shall be self-supporting, requiring no bandages or similar devices for holding it in position; one which shall be elastic and yielding, and consequently exert no binding effects on the parts with which it is in contact; one which makes special provision for the accommodation of the male member, relieving it of the tension so objectionable with many of the prevailing forms of suspensories; one made of material capable of being washed, cleansed, and thoroughly disinfected, and one possessing further and other advantages better apparent from a detailed description of the invention, which is as follows:

Referring to the drawings, 1 represents an elastic pouch made, preferably, of very thin elastic rubber on the order of toy balloons, the pouch being preferably perforated, so as to allow for free circulation of air. The open end of the pouch is provided with a marginal elastic bead 2,which is adapted to be stretched, so as to allow the pouch to pass about or envelop and subsequently snugly embrace itself about the scrotum, the forward portion. of this bead gradually merging with the downwardly-extending sides of the frontshield 3, which is made of a thickness considerably greater than the material of the pouch. Extending or projecting forwardly from a point adjacent to the bottom of the shield 3 is a neck or elongated tubular extension 4, having a terminal flaring mouth and having its base connected to the pouch and shield along a curve which gradually merges the parts together, this curvature, as well as the curve, characterizing the flaring mouth of the neck 4, and the elastic nature of the material of which said neck is composed always insuring the easy passage of the male member therethrough.

The primary object of the neck 4 is to serve as a.

direct support for the pouch, it being observed that the tension or pull which the bead 2 exerts when stretched about the scrotum is substantially from a point at the base of the neck or extension 4, and to avoid any binding of the parts at this point and avoid interfering with the circulation the shield is gradually merged into the neck, so as to distribute the strain resulting from this tension over as large a surface as possible. Should the neck be too long for individual cases, it may be rolled back, as fully indicated in Fig. 5 of the drawings. It is to be observed, of course, that I do not wish to confine myself to any special form of either shield or neck, as these maybe varied to suit individual preferences, though the neck should be specifically characterized by a stiffness which shall insure for it the functions here assigned.

A suspensory of the character here described is self-supporting. It snugly embraces the several parts without undue binding or tension. It readily conforms to the movements of the body. It can be removed at a moments notice, may be washed, cleansed, and thoroughly disinfected, and again readily placed back into position. Being constructed of very fine rubber it does not irritate the parts, and the person wearing the same would under ordinary circumstances and normal conditions scarcely realize that he was equipped with this form of bandage.

In may be stated in passing that by rolling the tubular extension back on itself, as shown in Fig. 5, the effect (due to the elasticity of the rubber) is to contract the passageof the extension and hug themale member.- It is therefore admirably adapted for preventing night emissions, the wearer being awakened by the elastic grip of the extension about the male member the moment the member manifests any tendency toward erection.

Having described my invention, what I claim is 1. In a suspensory, an elastic pouch adapted to envelop and snugly embrace the scrotum, and an elastic elongated tubular extension snugly embracing the male member, substantially as set forth.

2. In a suspensory, an elastic rubber pouch adapted to envelop and snugly embrace the scrotum, a front shield forming an extension of the edge of the open end of the pouch, and a suitable elongated tubular elastic extension projecting forward from said shield for accommodating and snugly embracing the male member, substantially as set forth.

3. In a suspensory, an elastic rubber pouch adapted to snugly embrace the scrotum, a front shield forming an extension of the edge of the open end of the pouch, and a suitable tubular extension having a flaring mouth projecting from said shield for accommodating the male member, substantially as set forth.
