TO ALL WHOM I'l MAY CONOERN:
Be it known that I, GEORGE R. EAGER, of East Boston, in the oountyotl Su`olk, a.nd State of Massachusetts, have invented n new and useful Neck-Tie ond Snert-Supporter; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had'to the nccompnnyng` drawings,y forming :t part of this specification,Y
The object of my invention is to produce-a. new, elastic, find cheap supporter for :t neck-tie or scarf, which con he attached to the button of the shirt 'or collar, in front, and for other similar purposes.
Figure l is n view-ot the supporter, from the back side, when on the neck of the wearer.
Figures 2 und 3 are diilerent views ofthe supporter alone.
The triangular pnrt c fZ d is placed on the button, and then thewhole pulled down, so that the supporter, at the bend a, shell rest upon the upper edge of the button, nndtne thread-eye of the button shall enter into and be held by the elastic convex opening 6 c c b. cl d@ uniting the sides c d and o CZ maintains the form and elasticity of the sides, conihining strength, lightness, and elasticity.v The inward eonvexity of the sides a (Z and a. d,'towards the neck, together with their convergent;r ttt the .point c, renders it easy to catch upon the button.
As thus described, it moy be at once attached to the back of' a, tiel or scnrf by g/ und (Z d', or, -if the tie is on n. card or platte, so formed z ts to insertit under the fold ofi` the coller, then the supporter is connected to the cord by nn elastic, as shown -in iig. 1 which represents the snpporter'in connection with'nn elastic, C,' attached to the hack of thc bow or scarf desired, so that when the supporter has been placed in position upon the button, the elastic upon the back of the tie will allow the tie to be drown down for enough tmpl-nce the concave edge oi' the card :1t the buck of the tie, underneath the collar, and then draws up the edge till it conforms with the curve of the collar, thus supporting-Mend keeping` its upper corners together.
What I claim, is-
l. The neck-tie supporter, consisting of the ports e, db', e7 d', to engage with, und the saddle-or bend a a', to rest upon the buttOm-and the attaching-port y, all formed and operating :is herein described end represented, for the purposes set forth. I
2. The combination, with the shove,- of the elastic 'hand C, applied in the manner and for the purpose specified.
Boston, June 1, 1857.
GEORGE R. EAGER.
