COLLAR-BUTTON.

To all whom 'it muy concern:

Be it known'tliat l, ERNEST T. Ai'wrxtt, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collar-But-- tons, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relatos to collar buttons, and niy object is to produce a device of this character which efficiently and-reliably secures a collar to the back of th neck-band 'of a shirt without causing discomfort by pressure upon the back of the neck, said pressure being incident to the use of an ordinary button especially when the user is also wearing a coat and vest.

IiA further object is to produce a collar button which cannot become detached from the shirt and from which the collar-cannot become unbuttoned, and which furthermore will prevent the neckti riding up on the vcoland peculiar features of construction as hereinafter described and claimed; and in order that it n iay be fully understood reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, in Wliiclii `Figure l is a rear view of the neck-band of a shirt equipped with a collar button embodying my invention; -the shirt bein'g preferably of thatcharacter which opens only in the front and is therefore only equipped wit A a button hole at the back for the purpose of at-l tac iing a collar. In the said drawings. l indicates a shirt, 2 the neck band thereof, and 3 a flap at the back of the neckband, provided with the usual buttonhole 4.

The button is of course preferably placed in the shirt before the latter i.; donned. A collar hutton,'comprising a pair of arms of unequal length and united at their upper ends, the longer arm being provided with a jog or shoulder and spaced slightly from and substantially paralleling the other ann below said jog or shoulder and fitting flatly and tightly against the short arm above said shoulder.

2. A collar button, comprising a pair of arms 0 unequal length united at their upper ends, the longer arm being` provided with a. jog or shoulder and tting atly against the other arm above and spaced slightly from and' substantially parallelingsald other arm, below said jog or shoulder, said long arm below said jog or shoulder having a second jog or shoulder, S, said last nam'ed jog or shoulder disposing the lower extremity of the long arm a greater distance from the plane of the short arm than that portion of the long arm between said jugs 0r shoul`ders.
