To all 1072,0712, it may concern.-

Be it known that I, FRANK PUGH SHARP, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Iberia, in the parish of Iberia and State of Louisiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collars; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to an improvement in collars; and the object of my invention is to provide means whereby the set of the collar around the neck of the wearer may be improved.

In turned-down collars it is difficult to keep the points of the collar in contact when it is buttoned around the neck, and this is especially true if the collar is a high one and if the buttonholes become a little worn.

By my invention the collar is fastened near the top as well as near the bottom, thus always insuring a perfect set.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective View of a turneddown collar provided with my invention, and Fig. 2 is a section of the same on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1.

According to my invention I sew an additional flap of linen (Z on the inside of the collar and provide it with a buttonhole 6, open ing inwardly, through which the upper securing-button f may be placed. g represents an auxiliary buttonhole, with which the buttonf is adapted to engage. The flap (Z, button f, and buttonhole g are all on the inside, so that the appearance of the collar on the outer side is unchanged.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

l. A collar provided with the usual buttonholes, and with a slotted flap and an additional buttonhole located near the top of the collar, substantially as described.

2. A collar provided with the usual buttonholes. a flap of linen sewed on the inside of the collar, said flap being provided with a buttonhole, and an additional buttonhole in the collar adapted to register wi th the buttonhole in the flap, substantially as described.
