TOILET KIT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 753,520, dated March 1, 1904.
Application filed March 31,V 1902.
To @ZZ whom. it may concern/.f
Beit known that I, ANNA MARIA SCHNEIDER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sacramento, in the county of Sacramento and State of California, haveinvented a new and useful Toilet Kit, o f which the following is a specification. v I
The present invention relates to toilet kits, and the lobject thereof is to provide an article of this character which will hold various toilet articles and prerequisites, so that they may be conveniently obtained when desired.
More particularly, the object of the invention is toprovide a kit especially usefulto travelers, having the various necessary toilet articles s o constructed and combined that any or all may be obtained and employed in the usual way, the whole being associated into a compact structure that will occupy very little space.
The preferred form of construction is shown in the accompanying drawings and described in the following specification.
In said drawings, Figure 1 isa perspective Fig. 2 is` a similar view with the cover of the receptacle thrown back. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional View. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the receptacle when detached from the brush and reversed. Fig. 5
lis a perspective view of the brush with the receptacle removed.
Similar numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawings.
In the presentembodiment of the invention a hair-brush is employed comprising a head l0, from one side of which projects'the usual bristles 11 and a handle 12, said handle being provided in its rear side witha longitudinallydisposed socket 13, that has an open mouth located contiguous to the back of the head, as shown in Fig. 5. The brush is furthermore provided with a longitudinally-disposed pocket 14, that extends from the outer end of the head completely through the same into the handle, the opening or mouth of said pocket being located inside the end edge of the head. This pocket is designed to receive a suitable toilet-comb, as 15, which is removably slipped Serial No. 100,780. (No model.)
l intothe same through the open mouth. The head is furthermore provided along its opposite side edges with rearwardlyfextending flanges 16. Y
Detachably mounted upon the back of the brush-head and between the flanges 16is a receptacle 17, thatconforms to the shape of the head and has at its outer end a lip 18, that fits over the end of the head and covers the open mouth of the pocket 14.. The receptacle is closed by means of a cover 19, that is hinged to one end and provided on its inner face with a pocket 20, in which may be placed scissors 21 and other suitable toilet accessories, said cover also carrying apin and needle cushion, as 22. The interior ofthe receptacle is subdivided by longitudinal `and, transupon the brush, and also a common handle for said receptacleand for the mirror.
The manner of using the kit will be perfectly apparent. For instance, should it be desired to arrange the hair the receptacle is removed from the brush, thus giving access to the comb, which may also be removed, and the person may then hold the mirror in one hand and use either the comb or brush. The other toilet accessories are contained within the receptacle, so that they may be readily obtained when needed.
From the foregoing it is thought that/the construction, operation, and many advantages of the herein-described invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art without further description, and it will be understood that various changes in the size, shape, proportion, and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention. 1 v
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, s-
l. As an article of manufacture, a toilet kit comprising in combination a brush composed of a handle and a head located at one end of the handle, said handle having a longitudinally-disposed socket in its rear portion that is provided with an open mouth disposed contiguous to the back of thehead at the junction of the same with the handle, and a mirror having a handle that detachably fits in the socket of the brush-handle, said mirror extending over and having its face covered by the rear face of the brush-head.
2. As an article of manufacture, a toilet kit comprising in combination, a brush hav` ing a handle and a head, said handle being provided in its rear side with a longitudinallydisposed socket having an open mouth-disposed contiguous to the back of the brushhead, a receptacle detachably mounted upon the back of the brush and having a handle slidably mounted in the socket of the brush-handle,'and a cover for the receptacle-movably mounted thereon. 1
3. As an article of manufacture, a toilet kit comprising in combination, a brush having a handle and a head, said handle being provided in its rear side with a longitudinallydisposed socket having an open mouth disposed contiguous to the back of the brushhead, a receptacle detachably mounted upon the back of the brush-head and having a handle slidably mounted in the socket of the brush-handle, and a mirror secured to the face of the receptacle that is adjacent to the back of thev brush-head, said mirror being thereby Acarried bythe head.
4. As an article of manufacture, a toilet kit comprising in combination, a brush consisting of a head and a handle, said handle being provided in its rear side with a longitudinally-disposedsocket having an open mouth arranged contiguous to the back of the head, an open-sidedreceptacle detachably mounted upon the back of the brush and having a handle slidably mounted in the socket of the brush-handle, a cover for the open side of the receptacle, and a mirror secured to the outer face of the opposite closed side of the receptacle, said mirror being covered and protected by the back of the brush.
5. As an article of manufacture, a toilet kit comprising in combination, a brush consisting of a head and handle having openended sockets, one of which extends through the head, and constitutes a comb-receiver, and a mirror arranged with its face to and over the head, said mirror covering the open end of the comb-receiving socketv and having a handle tted in the socket of the brush-han dle and constituting means for securing the mirrorto the brush.
6. As anl article of manufacture, a toilet kit comprising in combination, a brush comprising a head and handle having longitudinally-disposed sockets that are separate from each other, one of the sockets extending through the head and terminating short of the outer end thereof constituting a comb-receiver, said head `also having rearwardly-extending flanges at its side edges, and a mirror arranged over the brush-head between the flanges thereof, and havinga handle fitted in the socket of the brush-handle.
