IMPROVEMENT IN HAIR-BRUSHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 168,428. dated October 5,1875; application filed August 24, 1875.-
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES E. TEETS, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented an Improved Hair-Brush, as a new article of manufacture, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of the same, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my invention, showing the detachable parts adjusted. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same, the detachable parts being removed. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of the same.
My invention consists, as a new article of manufacture, in the combination, with a toilet hair-brush, of a chambered recess in its back, provided with a detachable lid, which is provided with a mirror on its upper face, anda hollow handle, provided with adetachable end cap, communicating with said recessed chamber, whereby a variety and number of toilet articles may be readily and conveniently carried in a compact manner.
A is a brush of the ordinary form, provided with a chambered recess, E, which is formed by attaching to the edges of said. brush a strip of metal or other material, D, as shown, the other end of which extends upward, on which is fitted the detachable lid A, said lid having a mirror, a, fixed in its upper face. B isa hollow handle, provided with an end cap, b, fitted to cover the end of said handle, as shown. The aperture D in said handle extends and opens into the recess-chamber E. The detachable lid -A is provided with a notch or recess, (not shown in the drawings,) which allows said lid to be pressed down tight upon the upper edge of the flange D, thus preventing the ingress of dust. G is a soapbox; H, an ordinary toilet-comb; 1, a latherbrush; J, a bottle for perfume or oil; K, a razor-strop, and L a razor, all of which are placed in said chambered recess and hollow handle, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3.
As constructed, my brush will be found to be very convenient to those who are traveling, especially as by it such articles of toilet as may be desired can be carried in a safe and compact manner.
Instead of the articles above enumerated, similar articles of toilet suitable for a lady may be substituted.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
As a new article of manufacture, a hairbrush the back of which is constructed with the chambered recess E, provided with a detachable lid, A, and the mirror at, and with the hollow handle B, provided with a cap, b, as and for the purpose specified.
