Description
B. MARSAK June 18, 1 957 VANITY KIT Filed Feb. 13, 1956 United States Patent VANITY KIT Bernard Marsak, Lawrence, N. Y.
Application February 13, 1956, Serial No. 565,164
2 Claims. (Cl. 132-85) This invention relates to a vanity kit and more particularly to a vanity kit which stores the various articles of such a kit in a compact and eflicient manner.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a vanity kit which contains all of the ordinary articles necessary for a womans make up in a unit which can be readily contained in a purse 'or overnight case.
Another object of this invention is to provide a vanity kit and case therefor which is compact and yet all of the parts of the various articleswhich might if left exposed be messy or tend to stain a purse or overnight case-are enclosed when properly positioned in their cased positions.
It is a further object of this invention to provide a vanity kit which is attractive as well as serviceable.
It is still a further object of this invention to provide a vanity kit which is economical to manufacture and the parts of which lend themselves to ordinary mass production injection molding procedures.
Referring to the drawings:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the kit showing the parts thereof in partially disassembled relationship to one another;
Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal cross-sectional view taken through the assembled kit;
Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse cross-sectional view taken through the assembled kit;
Fig. 4 is a vertical transverse cross-sectional view taken through the assembled kit at the end opposed to that shown in Fig. 3; and
Fig. 5 is a bottom view of the vanity kit case partially cutaway.
Referring with more detail to these drawings a brush 1 having a handle 2, as shown extending perpendicular to the bristles 3, serves as the nucleus of the vanity kit. This brush has an opening therein, such as the tubular aperture 4 in the free end thereof, adapted to house a lipstick 5. A collar 6 may be provided on this lipstick to removably secure the lipstick in the aperture when not in use.
The top of the brush 1 is provided with a means 01 2,795,070 Patented June 18, 1957 securing a compact 7 thereto. As shown the compact 7 is removably secured to the top of the brush by means of ridges 8 extending longitudinally thereof adapted to frictionally engage the sides of the compact and secure it to the brush when not in use.
The brush 1 with or without the lipstick 5 and compact 8 secured thereto is partially housed, when not in use, in an enclosure or case 9 which is also adapted to hold a comb 10 at the same time that the brush is housed therein.
It will be seen, that each article of the vanity kit can be easily removed from its appointed position which positions are provided in ordinarily wasted space in companion articles. Thus, the interrelation of the articles and the interaction thereof provide a new and novel vanity kit which can be easily stored in a purse or overnight case. Further the portion of each article which might stain or mess a purse or overnight bag is positioned inside the kit when placed in its put away position.
It is evident that this kit is extremely compact and yet provides the user with more than the essentials for ordinary grooming. It is particularly noteworthy that this kit provides a hair brush yet takes up a very small amount of spacewith this kit there is no longer any need for a woman to get along with a comb for lack of space to include the usual cumbersome hairbrush.
Having thus described my invention generally, I claim:
1. A vanity kit comprising a hair brush having a handle extending perpendicular to the bristles thereof, a lipstick, said handle having :an opening in the free end thereof adapted to hold said lipstick, a compact, a slot in the top of said brush adapted to hold said compact, a case adapted to house a substantial portion of said brush and a comb adapted to fit inside the case when the brush is enclosed therein.
2. A vanity kit comprising a hair brush having a handle extending perpendicular to the bristles thereof, a lipstick having a collar adjacent the lower end thereof, said handle having an opening having substantially the same configuration and size as the outer periphery of said collar, a compact, a pair of ridges extending along the back of said brush adapted to frictionally engage said compact, a case adapted to enclose a substantial portion of said brush including the bristles and a comb adapted to fit inside the case when the brush is enclosed therein.
