Be it known that I, EDWIN THOMAS RAN- DLE, a citizen ofthe United States, residing;-
Files; and I do hereby declare the followingl to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had Yto the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereoff My inventionv relates to improvementsin account-iles or handy register-slips, the 'ob-f ject of which is to provide Vin alphabetical` form a complete itemized account with each individual without the necessity of bookkeeping or copying. These object-s I attain by means of a device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which-r` Figure l is a view in elevation of the entire device open. Fig. 2 is a detail showing the separating-plates for each of the letters of the alphabet. Fig. 3 represents separating-tablets for each customers account. Fig. 4 represents one of the account-slips on which the original entry is made.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
A represents an ordinary cover madeany desired size and shape provided with a suitable handle and fastenings.
B represents the supporting-plate, any desired size and shape, for holding the lilo-pins. It is provided at its outer edges B2 with an offset to permit the fingers of the operator to be placed between said plate and a lower separating-plate on the file-pins for convenience in turning the alphabet. File-pins D are preferably made in two parts D and D2, connected by a loop at the top and in any ordinary Way. Between said tile-pins D' and D2 may be placed a partition orsupporting division-board E, having suitable end pieces or braces or supports E2. Said division-board E holds the accounts irl-position and prevents them from whirling or turning laterally when provided with a single hole, as shown in Fig.

Said tablets G are made narrower than the separating-plates F, and eachlhas a notch G2, leaving a projecting part G5, on whichV is Written the name ofthe customer at near its lower edge G4.
Said projections G3 are made graduated in width, so that when placedtogethe'r the name of the customer, written close to-the lower edge G4, willbe exposed to view. Thus the customers account is readily found'. When found, it Will be upon the slips or memorandum-sheets H, which areexposedby raising theseparating-tablets. Anynumberof these sheets may be used for one customers account, one with each bill, the last slip al ways drawing y,the balance left on the one previous, and thus the account always stands balanced,show ing`the amount remaining due, and each slip is a carbon copy of the original bill of sale.
