The present invention relates tothat general class of binder employing gummed tabs to which leaves'or sheets may be adhesively secured, and it has for dits object, first, the provision of a continuous binder strip of paper or textile material having gummed parts which can bepartially severed to pro? duce tabs to.4 which leaves or sheets may be adhesively secured, without disturbing the remaining portion of the continuous binder; second, more particularly, a continuous gummed binder, strip havingl successive lines of perforations which outline tabs that may be partially severed to freely project for the adhesive attachment of sheets vor leaves, without disturbing the remaining portion of the strip; third, .a backing or cover provided with 'a continuous lstrip having/partially severable gummedpcrtions whichdene ad-v tol binders for nloosen sheets to the backing. l

Further objects of theiinvention` are the provision of a file or binder ofim'proved construction having, rst, an'overlying' flap designed to provide a straight ling edge and to prevent gapingof ther-file when it is ed to bear indicia relating'to the file and to serve as a protection of a current sheet which is temporarily inserted under thefl'ap; and

y, still further, an improved notched or recessed edge construction, whereby the `ile A `may be readily opened.

The present invention is designed for use as a binder for letters, duplicate bills, record sheets, or leaves of any nature whatsoeverand toconveniently hold the sheets or leaves successively accumulated so that they iaf, be

Jwith other duplicate sheetsof other accounts, it is impracticable to vkeep the successive statements of any particular account in segregated arrangementf- The present invention provides a binder 'l for loose leaf ledger sheets or any similar record sheets,\whereby the itemized monthly or periodic statements of'a given account may be accumulated. as successive leaves in a single file or binder and thus,ior any desired period, all items of the given account vmay be readily accessible, the leaves or` sheets being held by the gummed'tabs so that they may be readily-turned over as are the pages of. a book. The 'file orcover may be provided with suitable columns to show-monthly balances, credits, and other desired data.

I am aware that modifications could be resorted to in vcarrying out the' invention,

among which may be mentioned the omission ofthe perforations and the substitution therefor ofprinted lines, marks or indicia to indicate where the continuousguinmedstrip should be clipped or cut'to release the tabs and I do not, therefore, limit myself to the precise disclosures of the drawings, except where specified in the appended claims.

The items are written or typewritten on thevv sheet 4 and the carbon impression apsent out, the original sheet 4 is detached and the duplicate sheet 4 is applied tothe binderv and subsequent statements are applied over on top of the first, the entire account being thus kept up to date and all the sheets in a single binder for a given account.
