WHIP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 733,687, dated July 14, 1903.
Application filed April 1, 1903. Serial No. 151,148. (No model.)
To rl/ZZ whom, it Hefty concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH W. VEIT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wapakoneta, in the county of Auglaize and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Whips, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates generally to whips, and more particularly to the manner of connecting the lash to the end of the whip.
Heretofore whips have been constructed with a single loop and the lash connected to said single loop; but this construction is frail and soon wears out or becomes broken, and it is with the object of avoiding` this defect in the whip that my invention has been devised; and, broadly speaking, it consists in providing the free end of the whip with two loops, said loops being arranged transversely to each other, the lash .being connected to the said loops where they cross each other.
The invention consists also in certain details hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings forming part of this specication, Figure l is a perspective View illustrating my invention. Fig. 2 is a side View of the free end of the whip, illustrating the loops. Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the same. Fig. et is a detail perspective view, part of one of the loops being broken away.
Referring to the drawings, A indicates the whip, the free end of which is formed with two loops B and C, said loops being arranged at right angles to each other, as most clearly will of course be understood that any other-4o method may be employed so long as the-lash is connected to the loops at their point of crossing and passes around both loops at that point.
A whip constructed as herein shown and described and the lash connected thereto produces an article superior to the ordinary whip now upon the market, being more durable and not likely to get out of order.
Having thus fully described my invention, 5o
what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A whip having two loops at the end thereof, said loops being arranged at right angles to each other, and the lash connected to said loops at their outer ends and where they cross each other, as specified.
JOSEPH W. VEIT.
