Application filed June 15 1891.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known thatI, JOHN WOOL GRISWOLD, of Troy, Rensselaer county, New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Barbed-Wire Fences, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to that class of wire fencing which is composed of a series of links, usually barbed; and it consists in the construction of said links and their combination to form a continuous fencing.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan View of my improved fencing. is a side view. Fig. 3 isa sectionon the line 3 3 of Fig. 2.
Similar letters of reference indicate parts.
Each link a Z) consists of a length of wire A, doubled or halved on itself to form at one end of said link the eye B. One end of the doubled-over wire A is bent to form an like eye (J. The other end of the doubled-over.
Fig. 2
Serial No. 396,261. (No model.)
In uniting the links the eye B of one link, as b, engages with the eyes 0 and D of the link a.
This fencing is strong, durable, and easily and cheaply made.
I claim- 1. A wire-fencing link composed of a length of wire doubled to form a loop or eye B at one' extremity of the link and having its ends bent over to produce the eyes CD, the extremities E F of said Wire passing between the parallel parts or strands thereof, being crossed one over the other, and both protruding on one side of said link to form barbs.
2. A wire fencing composed of a series of enchained links, each link being composed of a length of wire doubled to form a loop or eye B at one extremity of the link and havingits ends bent over to produce the eyes 0 D, the extremities E F of said wire passing between the parallel parts or strands thereof, being crossed one over the other, and both protruding on one side of said link to form barbs, the eye Bof one link engaging with the eyes 0 D of the next adjacent link.
