To ALL WHOM IT MAYCONCERN:
l Be it known that I, DAVID P. DAVIS, of the city,..county, and State of New York, have invented e new and improved Lncing for Belts; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilledY in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the eccompanying drawings, forming part of this specification. v i v v l The present invention relates to an improved lacing, more especially intended for' maohine-belts and bands, and the lacing embraced herein is composed of two parts, of similarconstruction, with each part formed of a. cross-bnr having a. series -of arms, made of a. hook-shape at their outer ends, so that the parts can be interl'ocked together, the hooks of one part with the cross-bar of the other, and thus if, by their-arms, they'are passed through suitable slits or openings made at the proper points in the belt, at o r near its ends, the two ends oi' the beltwill thereby be secured or fastened together, and in such a manner as tol bring thestrain upon the lacing Vthrough the thickness of the belt, in lieu of inthe direction o f its' length and that of the slits through which the arms to thefastener pass. In the accompanying plete` of drawings my improvements in lacings for belts are illustrted- Figure 1 being a. plan ortop view of a lacing made according thereto, and on u. belt; and
Figure 2 a section taken in the plane of the line iig. 1.

A, in the drawings, represents the two parts to my improved lacing, similarly constructed, and each made with a. cross-bar, B, having a series of arms, C, of equal. length, xforv eech part, that, at their outer ends, are terminated with a hook, D, which, when the two parts of the lacing are put together, interlock or engage with the cross-bar of the opposite or other part, as shown' in the. drawings, consequently fastening the two parts together, and, if applied to theends of n. belt through suitable slits or openings thereof, interlocking or lacing such ends together.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by vLetters Patent- The two-part lacing A, for belts, ete., each similarly constructed, substantially as described.
