SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 714,731, dated December 2, 1902.
Application filed January 30, 1902. Serial No. 91,889. (No model.)
To all whom, it nury concern.-
Be it knownthat we, JOSEPH R. MYERS and BENJAMIN-R. MYERS, citizensof the United States of America, and residents of 146 North Wood street, Chicago, Cook county, State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Hat-Tips, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to hat-tips, and comprises means to form a pocketv in the tip or lining of a hat to receive a mirror and other. articles, if desired.
In the accompanying'drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of a hat lining or tip provided with our improvement. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the pocket detached before the retaining- Fig. 3 is an enlarged crosssection on the line 3 3 of Fig. 2.
The pocket is formed of a band or strip of cloth a, which is folded to receiveand contain a running elastic gathering-cord c at the inner edge thereof and sewedaronnd at its outer edge to the tipor'li'ning e;
A mirror is indicated at d, and it is retained in the pocket by drawing the cord 0 and gathering the band a in over the edge of the mirror and tying the ends of the cord. A comb, as b, or other article may be readily inserted in the pocket.
In hats having no lining the hand is attached to a piece of cardboard or similar backing, which may then be cemented to the inside of the hat.
Whatwe desire to secure by Letters Patent 1s A hat-tip comprising a lining, the band a attached at its outer edge thereto, and the elastic gathering-cord c at the inner edge of the band, substantially as described.
