WITNESSES UNITED STATES-V WI-ATENT FFICE.
MYRON B. HAMMOND, OF BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT.
HOSE-SUPPORTER HOOK.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 714,300, dated November 25, 19053.
Application filed July 5, 1902. Serial No. 114,473. (No model.)
To ctZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, MYRON B.HAMMOND, a citizen of the United States, residin g at Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporter Hooks; and I do hereby declare the following I to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to certain new and usefulimprovements in hose-supporter hooks by means of which the stocking-engaging members are suspended from the loop element of a corset-clasp.
My present improvement aims to provide a hook which is so constructed that it will be held in position firmly upon the corset-husk without the customary provision of two rearwardly-extending hooks or two hooks for embracing the upper and lower edges of the loop of the corset-clasp.
In the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this application, Figure l is a front elevation showing my improved device in position on a corset-husk; Fig. 2, a rear elevation of the same; Fig. 3, a perspective View of my improved hook, and Figs. land 5 are respectively front and rear elevations of a modified form of my improvement in position on a corset-husk.
Similar numbers of reference denote like parts in the several figures of the drawings.
1 represents a corset-husk having the loop 2 of a corset-clasp secured thereto in the usual manner.
3 is a sheet-metal plate having'at the upper end a lateral extension 4, which projects from the front edge of the plate and is formed into a hook 5, which is parallel with the extension itself. .1
6 is a hook which extends rearwardly from the front edge of the plate and is parallel with the latter. The distance between these hooks is slightly greater than the width of the loop, so that the device may be placed in position for use with the hook 5 engaging the upper edge of the loop, while the hook 6 is immediately beneath the lower edge of the loop. As shown in the drawings, the plate is in front of the busk, while the book 6 is in the rear of the same and snugly embraces it, sotthat the plate is thereby firmly held in p0 51 ion.
, immediately above the upper edge of said loop, and thereby supports the device, and 2 this construction is substantially like that shown in Figs. 1 and 2, except that in these last two figures the hook 5 engages with the upper edge of the corset-loop, and thereby supports'the device, while the hook 6 engages the corset-husk immediately below said loop. The plate 3 is cut away near the top merely for the purpose of affording a little more resiliency to the plate.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. Ahose-supporter hook comprising a plate which has an extension projecting forwardlyfrom its front edge and a hook formed integral with one side of said extension and parallel therewith, said plate also having a second hook which extends from its front edge rearwardly parallel with said plate, said hooks extending in directions at right angles to each other and separated by a space which is sufficient to permit the insertion of the loop of the corset-clasp between said hooks, substantially as set forth.
2. In a hose-supporterhook, a plate capable of being attached to stocking-engaging members, the upper part of the side edge of said plate having a forwardly-extending hook element which opens downwardly and is adapted to engage with and rest upon the upper edge of the loop of the corset-clasp, said plate also provided with an'elongated hook at a distance from the first-mentioned hook and extending rearwardly and parallel with said plate and opening laterally, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MYRON B. HAMMOND.
