SUSPENDER ATTACHMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 692,603, dated February ,4, 1902. Application filed October 12, 1901. Serial No. 78,4-18. (No model.)
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, PHILIP J. BLooM, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Tidioute, in the county of Warren and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Suspender Attachment, of which the following is a full, clear, and .exact description.
This invention relates to improvements in Io attachments for trousers-Suspenders when worn underneath ashirt-waist; and the object is to provide a device of this character that shall be simple in construction, comparatively inexpensive, and that may be readily attached to the ends of ordinary Suspenders.
I will describe a suspender attachment embodying my invention and lhenpoint out the novel features in the appended claim.
rReference is to be had to the accompanying zo drawings, forming part of this specification,
in which similar characters ot' reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 indicates a portion of ashirt-waist, a portion ofa waist-band, and suspender ends z5 or loops with attachments embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2 2 of Fig. l, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the attachment.
Referring to the drawings,5 indicates a por- 3o tion of a shirt-waist, and 6 a portion of a trousers-waistband, to the inner side of which buttons 7 are attached.
The attachment consists of a strip of metal or wire 8, bent to substantially triangular form, the lower portion 9 of which isdesigned to engage over the button. The upper end members 10 are extended inward or toward each other, but slightly separated, and these members 10 have their ends 11 turned out- 4o Ward.
Fig. 1 of the drawings clearly shows how the device is attached to suspender-endsthat is, the members l1 of the upper portion are passed through the buttonhole, so as to engage against one side of the suspender-end, While the portions 10 engage against the other side. The material for the shirt-waist of course covers the buttons 7, and therefore when the device is engaged with a button the material ofthe shirt-waist Will be folded underneath the button, as indicated in the drawings.
A suspender attachment embodying my invention may be readily attached to ordinary Suspenders, and while it is mainly designed for use with `Suspenders worn underneath a shirt-Waist it is obvious that it may be ernployed in connection with Suspenders used in the ordinary manner.
To easily attach the device to a suspenderend, the partsrll may be turned lengthwise of the buttonhole and passed through the same. Then upon turning the device the parts 10 and ll will engage the suspender-end, as before described, and obviously bya reverse operation the device may be removed.
Having thus described my invention, 'I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A suspender attachment comprising a strip of metal bentto form a button-engaging lower portion and having its upper end members turned inward and then outward, the said upper members being spaced apart, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I have signed my namelo this specification in the presence of two snbscribin g witnesses.
PHILIP J. BLooM.
