Be it known that I, BENGT Swanson LE- VEEN, a citizen of the United States, residing in the county of Albany'and State 5 of New York, have invented a new and-useful Combined Table, Chair, and Stool, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in h I a a combined chair, table, and stool; and the object thereof is to provide a simple, light,

3 and inexpensive article of furniture which may be quickly and readily converted'into either of the above articles mentioned and which is so constructed that the various parts thereof may be folded so as to be contained in a box-like body, which constitutes the top of the table or the seat of the chair, so that it may be conveniently carried from place to place.

The invention consists in the novel features of construction, which will be hereinafter fully described, particularly pointed out in the claims, and clearly illustrated by the ac- H ycompanying drawings, in Which Y 1 5 1 5 vention, showing the same adapted for use as Figure 1 is a perspective view of my ina table. A standard D is vertically movable through said collarand carries at its lower end a caster E and a circumferential flange F, to which the inner ends of the brace G are pivoted, the outer ends of such brace being pivotally connected with the legs 0. l The collar is provided with any preferred form of locking device for the purpose of h holding the standard in the desired vertical 15o adjustment, the locking means here illustrated consisting of a spring-held bolt H,

which has an operating-stem I projecting to the exterior of the collar, so that it maybe retracted from suitable apertures J, formed in the standard in vertical alinement.

The upper end of the standard is threaded to receive a collar K, carrying the supporting-arms L, said supporting-arms extending radially from the collar and having their inner ends curved, which said curved ends are movable in passages M, formed in the collar. By reason of this construction the arms may be folded inwardly when the invention is not in use and quickly moved to horizontal position to support. the box-like body N or the flexible seat portion 0, said arms being formed 011 their inner ends with stops to prevent their entire withdrawal from the collar. The upper threaded end of the standard projects beyond the collar K when the same is in position thereon and is adapted to extend through an opening formed in the bottom wall of the box Nand receive a nut P, which tightly clamps said box in position, resting upon the supporting-arms L. Said box N is formed with a swinging end Q, which when the invention is used as a table is held in position, closing the end of the box by a suit able catch carried by the swinging top or lid R, which is hinged at its end edges to the opposite end wall of the box. Braces S are provided for holding said lid raised to constitute a back for the invention when used as a chair, each of said braces consisting of two members, respectively, hinged to the inner side of the lid and the side Wall of the box and pivotally connected together at their opposing ends, said brace members carrying the coacting locking members T and U, which lock the brace in its extended position, holding the lid raised. The brace members hinged to the sides of the box are formed with extensions on beyond their pivotal points, which extensions at their lower ends engage in grooves 12, formed in the bottom wall of the box, so that the braces are guided in their lower ends when the lid is raised.

To convert the table into a chair, the locking-bolt is retracted and the standard lowered until the caster carried thereby rests upon the floor. The swinging end of the box is then dropped and the lid raised. Thus a comfortable chair is provided havinga back and arm rests.

When the invention is not in use, the box is removed from the standard, as is also the collar and supporting-arms, and the supporting-legs folded by moving the collar upon the standard. The standard and folded legs and collar and the folded supporting-arms are placed in the box, which latter may be conveniently carried from place to place.

From the above description it will be seen that I have produced a very simple construction of combined table, chair, and stool which is especially convenient and useful when camping and which also forms a neat article of furniture for the household.

Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure, by Letters Patent of the United States, is

1. In an article of the character described, the combination with a suitable support, of a box-like body carried by said support, having snss a hinged end and top, braces for holding said top raised, each of said braces comprising two members pivoted at their respective ends to said swinging top and the body and pivoted together at their opposing ends, and looking devices carried by the opposing ends of said brace members and coacting with each other and holding the brace members in alinement, substantially as described.

2. In an article of the character described, the combination of a standard threaded at its upper end, a removable collar positioned upon said threaded end, folding arms carried by said collar,a seat portion resting upon said arms and perforated to receive the threaded end of the standard which projects therethrough, and a clamping-nut upon said projecting end, of the standard, substantially as described.
