TO ALL WHOM IT'MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that we, A. T. DUNBAR and A. McNAUGHT, have invented a new and useful article of manufacture, viz, a Device to Attach to the Heads Mof Butter-Firkins, Tubs, or other packages, whereby access may be had to the same without removing the headsv or disturbing the hoops thereof; and we do hereby declare that the following is a. full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexeddrawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a longitudinal section taken through the line y y, figs. 2 nnd 3.

v Our invention has for its object an apparatus, simple in construction, and complete in its operation, to be attached to packages containing butter, by the use of which access may be had to their contents, and a knowledge of its quality be obtained without the trouble and delayconsequent upon a removal of the heads thereof.

We claim, as a new article of manufacture, the plate herein described, when applied to packagescontaining butter, kegs or barrels containing liquids of any or all kinds, and barrels containing Hour, salt, and sugar.
