in Suspenders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention has for its object an improvement of the back ends of suspenders that will wholly do away with the trouble now experienced with ordinary suspenders of the back ends slipping up out of reach after they have been detached from the'trousers. This I accomplish by providing back Suspender-ends with a depending loop which will remain in convenient reach of the hand of the user, so as to enable him to draw down the back ends of the suspenders when it is desired to again attach the trousers to the suspenders. In order to accomplish this result, I have devised the simple and novel construction which I will now describe, referring by numbers and letters to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a View of a pair of suspenders the back ends of which are provided with my novel dependingloop. Figs. 2 and 3 are views of back Suspender-ends, illustrating difierent ways in which I have carried my invention into effect; and Fig. 4 is a detail view of a form of clamp which may be used for detachably connecting the depending loop to the back ends.-

tachment to the trouser-buttons. In Fig. l I have shown the ends of the depending loop as attached permanently to the suspenderends, as at 2. In Fig. 2 I have shown the Suspender-ends and the depending loop as made from a single piece of cord, and in Fig. 3 I have shown the ends of the loop as pro- .vided with clamps 3, which may be readily attached to the suspender-ends, one clamp being shown as attached to one of the suspender-ends, leaving the other end of the dependingloop unattached. The form of clamp illustrated in Fig. 4: is simply one form of many that may be used.

It should be understood that my invention lies in the connection with the back ends of suspenders of a depending loop which may be made integral with the back ends or separate therefrom and may be permanently or detachabl y secured thereto.

I am aware that it has been proposed to attach a single strip to suspenders so that it will hang between the button-loops thereof, said single strip being utilized to draw down the buckle by which the back ends are connected with the suspenders. Among the advantages of my invention I may mention that the loop C may be engaged by hooking the end of one finger thereover to draw it down; while the single-strip construction above referred to requires the use of both thumb and finger, thus requiring a farther reach of the hand. Furthermore, the single strip, while serving to draw down the buckle,will not draw down the button eyes or loops themselves, and there is liability of the said buttonloops being caught above the reach of the user. With my construction one finger may be hooked over the loop, so as to draw down both but-ton eyes or loops 1 simultaneously, and one finger may remain hooked over said loop C while the thumb and another finger are employed to secure the loops 1 to the buttons.

I am also aware that it has been proposed to connect the front ends of the two shoulderstraps of suspenders loy'a cord of such length that the said straps may be disconnected at the front and drawn entirely down over the back of the wearer, the middle of the long cord coming against the front of the neck and limiting the backward movement of said draw down the back ends into position for atstraps; but this provides for pulling down the the loop 0 extending approximately down to the said loops 1, whereby the loop 0 may be engaged by one finger to draw down and hold both loops 1 while the latter are being attached t0 buttons by the thumb and another finger. v
