IMPROVEMENT IN LlFTlNG-JACKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 57,814., dated September 4, 1866.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, A. ZINK, of Lancaster, county of Fairfield, and State of Ohio, have invented an Improved Lever-Jack; and I do hereby declare the following to be an exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification;
The nature of my invention consists in a notched upright post having a link to rest in the notches and a catch to tit into a rack on the upper side of the lever.
A represents. the base or plank, in which the post B is firmly mortised and supported by a stay, 0.
The upright post 13 has a slot down the cen ter, in which the lever D operates. This post has S-shaped notches E, in which a link, G, rests, and the lever D operates on the link.
- The upper side of lever D has a rack, H, and the back end of the rack is turned upward, as at J, for the purpose of taking a firm hold of a Wagon-axle or heavy article to be raised, while the self-adjusting catch K, as hinged to the top side of link, sits intothe teeth of the rack H, and locks the lever and holds the lever to its place.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The shape and construction of the leverjack, when arranged with the shifting link and adjustable catch, as secured thereto, as herein described, and for the purposes set forth.
