To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, FREDERICK AUGUSTUS GLINEs, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Arlington, in the county of MiddleseX and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mucilage-Bottles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had .to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts. This invention relates to mucilage-bottles, and the object thereof is to provide an improved device of this class having a removable tubular attachment in the neck thereof which may be readily removed and cleaned at any time; and with this and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, hereinafter described and claimed.

The invention is fully described in the following specification, of which the acompanying drawings form a part, in which 'Figure 1 is a central vertical section of my improved mucilage-bottle, and Fig. 2 a perspective view of the removable tubular attachment which I employ. In the practice of my invention I employ a bottle A, which is preferably made of glass, and which may be of any'desired form. The

.bottle A is provided with a neck B, and supported therein is a removable tubular attachment 0, which is composed of rubber and pr0- vided at its upper end with an annular outwardly-directed rim D, adapted to rest upon the neck of the bottle, and formed at the upper end of the tubular portion of the attachment, above the rim D, is an upwardlydirected annular flange E.

In operation a brush of the usual form is provided, the handle of which may be connected with a cork or stopper adapted to fit within the removable tubular attachment 0, but said brush and stopper are not shown for the reason that they form no part of this invention.

When the brush is removed from the bottle the surplus mucilage is removed therefrom by wiping the same on the tubular attachment 0, either on the bottom or the upper end thereof, as will be readily understood, and if at any time it becomes necessary to clean the tubular attachment 0, by reason of the mucilage becoming dried thereon, said tubular attachment may be readily removed and cleaned and again reinserted into the bottle. The lower end of the tubular attachment 0 is inwardly inclined or cut away, so as to form an edge at the bottom thereof, which facilitates the cleaning of the brush or the removal of the surplus mucilage therefrom, as will be readily understood.

The upwardly-directed flange at the top of the tubular attachment and within the rim D serves as an additional means for cleaning the brush or removing the surplus mucilage therefrom, and it will thus be seen that I accomplish the object of my invention by means of a device which is simple in construction and operation, and one which is comparatively inexpensive.

Having fully described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As an improved article of manufacture, a mucilage-bottle, the neck of which is provided with an annular enlargement, and a removable tubular attachment having a horizontal flange secured within the neck of the bottle, the lower end of said tubular attachment being inwardly beveled, said attachment being provided above the annular flange with an inwardly-beveled portion, substantially as described.
