Description

No. 791,097. I PATENTED MAY 30, 1905.

J. H. JERIGHO.

BOTTLE DRIP REGEPTAGLB.

APPLIOATIONTILED JAN. 18, 1905.

UNITED STATES Patented May 30, 1905.

PATENT OEEIcE.

BOTTLE DTRlP-RECEPTACLE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 791,097, dated May 30, 1905. Application filed January 18, 1905. Serial No. 241,702.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that 1, J OHN H. J ERIOHO, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at the city of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottle Drip-Receptacles, of which the following is a specification.

My invention has relation to a device adapted to be fitted or applied to the body of a bottle for catching the drip of the fluid in pouring or discharging the contents of the bottle; and in such connection it relates to the particular construction and arrangementthereof.

My invention, stated in general terms, consists ofa bottle drip-receptacle constructed and arranged in the manner hereinafter described and claimed.

The nature and characteristic features of my invention will be more fully understood from the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, in which Figure 1 is an elevational view of a dripreceptaele with a bottle fitted thereto embodying main features of my invention. Fig. 2 is a top or plan view of the drip-receptacle. Fig. 3 is a transverse central sectional view on the line in m of Fig. 2, and Fig. 4 is a similar view of a modified form of the drip-receptacle.

Referring to the drawings, (t represents a bottle, and Z) the drip-receptacle of a yielding material, such as rubber, having a central circular rim 6, adapted to fit or span the surface of the bottle a, and projecting from the base portion of the rim 6 horizontally is provided a base which terminates in a peripheral inturned downwardly-projecting rim 6 to form, with the central and peripheral rims Z) and J and base, the channel-way 6 as shown, whereby as arranged the drip in the pouring of the fluid contents of the bottle a is deposited into the channel-way b of the receptacle and held therein against discharge due to any accidental overturning of the bottle with the receptacle applied thereto, due to the particular'arrangernent of the inturned downwardly-projecting peripheral rim 72 of the drip-receptacle. The inturned peripheral rim Z) of the receptacle 7) being made of rubber permits of the ready bending of the rim, so as to permit of thoroughly cleansing the channel-way L as may be required from time to time. The channel-way I) of the receptacle may, however, be readily cleansed by passing a cloth or other suitable means around the channelway between the central rim fitting the bottle and peripheral inturned downwardly-projecting rim of the receptacle.

The construction of the receptacle of Fig. i difiers from that of Figs. 1 to 3 in that the centrally-arranged rim 5 of the receptacle 6, fitting the bottle a, is provided with a solid bottom If, while the receptacle 7) in Figs. 1, 2, and 3 is without a bottom, having the formation of that of a ring to fit the body of the bottle to catch drip from the bottle in the dis charge of the fluid therefrom.

Having thus described the nature and object of my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A bottle drip-receptacle having a central upwardly-projecting annular rim of yielding material adapted to fit the bottle and having integral therewith a base terminating in a peripheral inturned downwardly-projecting rim forming with the central rim and base a channel-way for catching and holding drip in pou ring or discharging the contents of the bottle.

2. A bottle drip-receptacle having a solid bottom with a central annular rim projecting upward from said bottom and adapted to fit the bottle, said rim and bottom extended and terminating in an inturned downwardly-projecting peripheral rim forming with said central rim and extension a channel-way for catching and holding drip in pouring or discharging the contents of the bottle.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my signature in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.

JOHN H. JERIUHO.
