PATRICK GEORGE MCCOLLAM, OF CANYON, COLORADO.
MUClLAGE-BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 583,152, dated May 25, 1897.
Application filed August 1,1896.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, PATRICK GEORGE Mo- COLLAM, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, and a resident of Canyon city, in the county of Fremont and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mucilage-Bottles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which similar numerals of reference indicate cor-responding parts wherever found throughout both views.
This invention relates to mucilage-bottles; and the object thereof is to provide an improved bottle or vessel of this class, the neck of which is provided with a removable attachment which is tubular in form and provided with a hinged or pivoted cap or cover, said tubular part of the attachment being also provided with means for holding the brush and at the lower end thereof with means for removing the surplus mucilage from the brush.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawings form a part, in which Figure 1 is a central vertical section of my improved mucilage-bottle, and Fig. 2 a plan view thereof.
In the practice of my invention I provide a bottle 5, which may be of any desired form and which is provided with a neck 6, and I also provide a neck attachment consisting of a short tube which is adapted to closely fit the inner walls of the neck 6 and which is provided at its upper end with an annular flange 8, which rests on said neck, and at one side of the lower end thereof with an inwardly-directed flange or projection 9, which is segmental in form, as shown in Fig. 2.
The upper portion of the tube 7 opposite the inwardly-directed flange 9 is provided with a yoke-shaped attachment 10, which is secured thereto and which is adapted to serve as a holder for the handle of the brush, and which is preferably composed of spring-wire, and the flange S of the tube 7 is provided at one side withizan arm or projection 11, and I also provide a circular convex cap or cover Serial No. 601,339. (No model.)
12, which is provided at one side with an arm or projection 13, by which it is pivotally connected at 14 with the arm or projection 11 of the tubular attachment 7, and said cap or cover is provided at one side thereof with a semicircular notch or recess 15, which is directly over the brush-holder 10 when the cap or cover is closed.
The tubular attachment is detachable from the neck and may be removed and cleaned whenever desired, and no mucilage can come in contact with the neck of the bottle in the operation of this device, and the shape of the flange 9 is such that the surplus mucilage removed thereby from the brush will drop back into the bottle.
The attachment may be composed of any desired material, sheet metal or hard rubber being preferred, and it is evident that changes in and modifications of the construction herein described may be made without departing from the spirit of myinvention or sacrificing its advantages.
Having fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A mucilage-bottle provided with a neck, and a removable attachment consisting of a short tube, which is adapted to be inserted into the neck, and which is provided with an annular flange which rests thereon, and a cap pivotally connected therewith, said tube being provided at its upper end with a spring yoke-shaped holder for the handle of the brush, and said cap being provided adjacent thereto, with a semicircular notch or recess through which the handle of the brush passes, and the lower end of the tubular attachment being provided at one side with a segmental inwardly and downwardly directed flange, as and for the purpose set forth.
2. A mucilage-bottle provided with a neck and a removable attachment, consisting of a short tube which is adapted to be inserted into said neck and which is provided at its upper end with an annular flange which rests on said neck, said tube being also provided at its upper end with a yoke-shaped holder for the handle of the brush, and with a cap which is pivoted to said flange, and adapted ence of the subscribing witnesses, this 21st to swing thereover, and in one side of which (lay of July, 1896.
is formed a notch or recess through which the 1 i handle of the brush passes, substantially as IMMU ("LOML MWOLMM' 5 shown and described. lVitnesses:
I11 testimony that I claim the foregoing as JOHN LINDLEY,
my inventionI have signed my name, in pres- JOHN MCCOY.
