E. L. LOGEE.
FASTENING DEVICE FOR WAIST BELTS. No. 561,118. v Patented June 2,1896.
.. INVENTDR.
@fl 2 W W longitudinal line thereof.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDGAR L. LOGEE, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODEISLAND.
FASTENING DEVICE FOR WAIST-BELTS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 561,118, dated June 2, 1896.
Application filed April 3, 1896. Serial No. 586,051. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDGAR L. LOGEE, of the city and county of Providence, in the State of Rhode Island, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Fastening Devices for lVaist-Belts; and I declare the following to be a specification thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
Like letters indicate like parts.
Figure 1 is a rear elevation of my improved fastening in position upon a waist-belt. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, the belt being shown in cross-section. Fig. 3 is a view in elevation of the metallic portion or back plate of my fastening device. Fig. 4 is a View of said metallic back plate in side elevation. Fig. 5 is a View of my invention in position upon the belt, as seen partly in elevation and partly in section, on line 00 0c of Fig. 1.
My invention is a device to secure a waistbelt fastener in place upon a waistband of a garment.
It consists of the combination of a flexible loop, of leather or a woven fabric, with a metallic plate fastened thereto and provided with bent holding-pins, as hereinafter fully specified.
In the drawings A is a flexible loop, of a woven webbing or of leather, whose ends abut, as shown at a.
B is a metallic plate having two bent pins 0 D, soldered or otherwise secured to said plate, one extending lengthwise of the plate and the other at a right angle to the central The plate B has at or near its corners the prongs b b b Z), which are first thrust through the rear portion of the loop A and then are bent or turned over to form clenches, as best shown in Fig. 5. It is obvious, however, that said plate may be attached to the loop by eyelets or by stitching through proper holes or by other equiva-- lent means. In Fig. 4 the prongs b are shown as bent and clenched.
E is the belt, which is inserted through the loop A.
The pins 0 D are thrust through the waistband of the garment and hold the belt firmly against either vertical or lateral movement.
I claim as a novel and useful invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The waist-belt fastener, consisting of the combination of a flexible loop and a metallic plate secured thereto and provided with two bent holding-pins, one extending in a direction parallel to the central longitudinal line of said plate and the other in a direction at a right angle to said line, substantially as shown.
2. The improved waist-belt fastener herein described consisting of the flexible loop A, the metallic back plate B having the bent holding-pins extending therefrom in directions at right angles with each other and provided with prongs 1) adapted to pass through the rear portions of said loop and to be clenched thereon, substantially as specified.
