BED-BOTTOM.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 53, l2 l, dated March 13, 1866.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, S. H. CROssMON,of Battle Greek, Calhoun county, and State ot' Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bedsteads; and l do hereby declare the following to be a clear and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,and to the letters ofret'erence marked thereon, malringa part of this specilication.

The nature of my invention consists in the arrangementand combination of the slats with end supports and cords, forming a spring-bottOm.

Figure l represents a top View; Fig. 2, a side elevation.

A represents the end posts; B, the side rails. C G are two center rails extending the whole length of the bedstead, to which the spring slats D are attached by screws E.

The upper slats D rest on round pulleyshaped supports G, located at the ends between the slats, while the lower slats are screwed fast to the center rails, C G.

A cord, H, is run through the ends ot' the slats D .and through the supports G, and eX- tends from sla-t to slat the whole length of the bedstead, tightening and bracing the ends of the slats, yet allowing them to spring up and down.

What I claim as my invention7 and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The spring-slats, as arranged and combined with the end supports and cords. as herein de' scribed, and for the purposes set forth.
