IMPROVED SPRING-BBD BOTTOM.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, MATnnw LE PAGE, of Woodhaven, in the county of Queens, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful improvement Vin Spring-Bed Bottoms, applicable also to sofas, couches, chairs, and other like articles, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, and in which- Figure l represents a plan o f abed-bottom constructed according to my improvement, and

The nature of my invention consists in a novelcombination of'elliptic springs, arranged one above the other, with longitudinal and transverse elalstic braces, essentially as hereinafter described.
Referring to the accompanying drawing, A represents the frame of a bed or bed-bottom, with lower trans- ?erse strips or slats, B, on which is arranged a series of elliptic springs, C, say, for instance, one on either side of each strip B, and one in the centre thereof. On the top et' these elliptic springs are secured other elliptic springs D, and on the top of these again are run and secured longitudinal and transverse elastic braces, E F, on which the bed is made to rest.
Abad-bottom thus formed of tiers of elliptic springs, with elastic longitudinal and transverse braces, it is found forms va very simple, eicient, and durable arrangement, being free from undue longitudinal or lateral play, also possessing great strength with every requisite flexibility, and essentially-differing from other bedbottoms composed of elliptic springs, or of circular springs arranged one within the other, and various other constructions.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The arrangement of the elliptic springs CDA in tiers, in combination with the longitudinal and transverse braces E F, constructed and operating substantially as shown and described.
