Description
UNITED STATES PATENT QEEICE@ VILLIAM T. FRY, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
'IMPROVEDFLASK Spee-lication forming part of Letters Patent No. 5l,303, dated December 5, 1865.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WM. T. FRY, ofthe city and State of New York, have invented an linprovernentin Flasks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had t0 the accompanying drawings, and to the letters otl reference marked thereon.
My improvement consists of a device, fully described hereinafter, by which air can be admitted to a ilask or bottle and the free tlow of liquid from thc same insured.
InV order to enable others to mak-c and use my invention, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation.
On reference to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, Figure l is a View ot' an ordinary ilask or bottle with my improvement. Figs. 2 and 3 are enlarged sectional views illustrating my improvement.
A represents a ask or bottle, the neck of which is provided with an ordinary screw cap and stopper. '-L An opening is formed in the bottle near the neck, and over this openin gis cemented, or otherwise secured in any con,- venient manner, a small tube, B, having screwthreads adapted to internal threads ot' a stopper, C, to which is fitted a disk, b, of gumelastic or other suitable substance, and in the side of the stopper, immediately below the said disk, are one or more openings, c, the object of which will be rendered appareil t hereinafter.
Then any liuid has to be procured from the tlask, screw-stopper G is turned until the air can gain access through the hole c, and small tube B to the interior of the iiask, when the free exitot' the contentsisinsured. After the desired quantity ot liquor has been obtained from the tiask, the screw-stopper C is so turned as to bring the opening@ below the top ot' the tube B and the gum-elasticdisk to its seat upon the cap, when the access ot' air to the tlask is cut oft' and the escape ot' the contents at this j point prevented.
As there is no necessity for removing the l', cap C entirely from the tube in order to accom plish the desired end, there can be no danger of losing the cap.
I claim as myinvention and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, substantially as described, of the screw-tube B, the screw-cap C, and its opening or openings c with a bottle or lask, for the purpose specied.
In testimony whereotI have si gned m y name to this specilication in the presence of two sub scribing witnesses.
Witnesses:
CHARLES E. FOSTER, JOHN WHITE.
