NON-REFILLABLE BOTTLE. 
Application filed May 9, 1911. 
To allwhom it may concern: 
 Be it known that I, ALPHoNs DRYFOOS, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved NonRefillable Bottle, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description. 
 The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved non-refillable bottle, arranged to permit ready pouring of the contents of the bottle into a glass or other receiving receptacle, and to prevent refill ing of the bottle, after the same is once emptied, with spurious goods by unauthorized persons. For the purpose mentioned, use is made of a stopper fitting the neck of a bottle and having a central stem, on which are secured a plurality of spaced sections, of which the lower one is provided with sliding valves limited in their opening movement by the next or middle section, which latter has flap valves limited in their opening movement by the top section. 
 A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views. 
 Figure 1 is a sectional side elevation of the stopper as applied to the neck of a bottle; Fig. 2 is a similar view of the same and showing the bottle tilted and the valves in open position for the escape of the liquid from the bottle; Fig. 3 is a plan view of the top section; Fig. 4 is a like view of the middle section; Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the flap valves; and Fig. 6 is a plan view of the lower section. 
 The stopper is fitted in the lower portion of the neck A of a bottle A, and the said stopper consists essentially of a central stem B, preferably in the form of a screw rod, on which screws a lower section 0, a middle section D and an upper section E, made of cork or other suitable material. The lower section C is provided with a number of tubes C grouped around the stem B and adapted to be opened and closed at the top by valves F having conical stems F extending in the tubes C, and of such a length that when the valves F are opened and abut against a stop plate G on the under side of the middle section D, then the lower ends of the said stems F are still in en- Specification of Letters Patent.

gagement with the tubes C, as will be readily understood by reference to Fig 2. The stop plate G is provided with a'hub G adapted to rest on the top of the lower section C, so as to hold the sections G and D spaced apart the desired distance. The middle section D is provided with openings D grouped around the central stem B and adapted to be closed on the top by flap valves H hinged on a plate H screwing on the central stem B. The top of the middle section D is provided with raised portions D between which'extend the flap valves H so as to guide the same in their opening and closing movement. The openings D register with openings G in the stop plate G but are out of register with the tubes C in the lower section C so as to render the opening of the valve F, by the insertion of a wire through the openings D, diflicult for unauthorized persons trying to refill the bottle A with spurious goods. The flap valves H are limited in their upward movement by a stop plate E, held on the under side of the upper section E, which is preferably scalloped, or in the form of a spider or a cross, to provide openings for the passage of the liquid into the outer end of the neck A of the bottle when the latter is tilted. The top section E is also provided with a top plate E made of metal, and both plates E and E screw on the upper threaded end B of the stem B, which latter is provided. at its lower end with a head B engaging the under side of the lowermost section C. 
 It is understood that by the arrangement described the sections C, D and E and the valves F and H can be readily assembled on the central stem B and forced into the neck A. of the bottle A, and which neck is preferably tapering so that the stopper cannot be readily withdrawn by unauthorized persons. It is also understood that by making the sections C, D and E of cork they can be readily compressed when introducing the stopper into the neck A of the bottle, but the sections may be made of other material, glass, for instance, and fastened in the straight neck of the bottle by suitable means, such as cement or other fastening devices. 
 The arms of the upper section E are preferably so arranged relative to the flap valves H as to extend above the same, so that it is rendered difiicult for an unauthorized person to open the flap valves H by the insertion of a wire through the openings between the arms of the upper section E. 
 The stopper shown and described is very simple and durable in construction and the parts are not liable to get out of order, at the same time refilling of the bottle after the same is once emptied, with spurious goods, is effectively prevented. 
 Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A stopper for a bottle, comprising a central stem, a plurality of spaced sections on the said stem and adapted to fit into the neck of the bottle, the lower and middle sect-ions having outwardly-opening valves grouped around the said central stem, and the upper section having openings for the passage of the liquid, the valves of one sec tion being out of alinement with the valves of the other section and the openings of the upper section being out of alinement with the valves of the middle section. 
 2. A stopper for a bottle, comprising a central stem, a plurality of spaced sections on the said stem and adapted to fit into the neck of the bottle, the lowerand middle sections having outwardly-opening valves grouped around the said central stem, the valves of one section being sliding valves and the valves of the other section hinged valves and out of alinement 'with'the sliding valves, and the upper section having 0penings for the passage of the liquid. 
 3. A stopper for a bottle, comprising a central stem, a plurality of spaced sections on the said stem and adapted to fit into the neck of the bottle, the lower section having sliding valves and the middle section having hinged valves, the opening movement of the sliding valves of the lower section being limited by the middle section and the opening movement of the hinged valves of the middle section being limited by the upper section, the latter having openings for the passage of the liquid. 
 4. A stopper for a bottle, comprising a threaded central stem, lower, middle and upper sections screwing on the said stem and adapted to lit the neck of a bottle, the said sections being spaced apart, the lower and middle sections having openings, slidable valves for closing the openings in the lower section, and flap valves for closing the openings in the middle section, the under side of the latter having a stop plate for limiting the opening movement of the valves in the lower section, and the upper section being provided with a stop plate for limiting the opening movement of the flap valves, and the said upper portion having openings for the passage of the liquid. 
 5. A stopper for a bottle, comprising a threaded central stem, lower, middle and upper sections screwing on the said stem and adapted to fit the neck of a bottle, the said, 
sections being spaced apart, the lower and middle sections having openings, slidable valves for closing the openings in the lower section, and fiap valves for closing the openings in the middle section, the under side of the latter having a stop plate for limiting the opening movement of the valves in the lower section, and the upper section being provided with a stop plate for limiting the opening movement of the flap valves, the said upper section having openings for the passage of the liquid and having a topplate screwing on the said stem. 
 6. A stopper for bottles comprising a central stem, a lowersection secured to the stern and provided with a plurality of sliding valves, a middle section on the stem and provided with a plurality of hinged valves, 
- the said section being provided with raised portions between which the valves extend, the valves of one section being out of alinement with the valves of the other section, and an upper section in the form of a cross, the arms of which extend over the valves of i the middle section.
