Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 51,149, dated November 28, 1865.

To all 'whomrt't may concern:

Be it known that I, GYRUs B. GEosBY, of Cortlandville, in the county of Cortland, in the State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Rack for Hanging Clothes to Dry; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full ...nl exactdescription thereof', reference being had to the accompanying.;` drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, like letters representing like parts.

A represents a substantial staff; b, sockets, fastened to the said statt' with screws and containing balls, with projections c fastened to the arms d with screws; f, vertical bars, pivoted to the arms d, which serve as a partial support, the arms heilig principally supported by means of the projections c from the balls ot' the sockets b,- G,t'ra1nes or wings; t', slots in the sockets, so cut that any three ofthe said frames or wings G may be swung together in a horizontal position, while the fourth, directly opposite,

may remain in said position or may be folded from said position by raising the arms d or sections, as represented by G, as may suit ones convenience, or may be swung around in such a position as to make, with the third wing from it a right angle, so that the said rack maybe set in a corner of a room while in use, and consequently occupy but a very small space; and when not in use each frame or wing may be folded separately and adjusted vertically, as shown at K.
