Be it known Athat I, ELBRIDGE SIMS, of Antwerp., in the county ot' Jefferson and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Clothes-Drier; and I do hereby declare that the following. is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specificat'on in which- Figfnre 1 is a front or face view of my in- 'vention Fig. 2,a vertical section of the same,

This invention relates to a new and improved device t'or holding clothes while drying; and it consists in the employment or use of a series of frames connected by pivots sus pended from a wall and provided with arms, as hereinafter fully shown and described, whereby a very convenient and' portable de vice is obtained for the purpose specified.

A. B G represent three frames formed each of two parallel side bars, a a,.connected by cross rods or wires b. These several frames are connected together by pivots c, whichniay be formed by having the ends ot a rod or wire,

These frames may be about of a uniform length, and they are attach ed to a wall or any perpendicular support by means ot hooks d d, the latter being at the upper ends ot' the uppermost frame, A, or central frame, B. The frames A B are provided with bars' D',V notched at one end insuch a manner as` to hohl the frames, when suspended, in oblique positions,'as shown clearly in Fig. 2. These'.

frames, when thus spread out, are in aposition to receive the clothes, the clothes on the rods or wires ot one traine not inter-tering with those on the other. Y

When the device is not in use, the frames are released from the bars D, the notched ends of the latter being disengaged from the rods or wires b, and the frames are thus allowed to drop so as to hangin a vertical plane against the wall, and the device may be de tached from the wall, it desired. The bars D, it will be seen, are titted at one end,0pposite the end Where the notches are ina-de, on a rod or wire, b, two bars being on a rod or wire b of each frame A B, as shown in Fig. 1.

This invention may be constructed at a triiling cost, and will be found'eXtreinely convenient and a valuable acquisition to the laundry.

I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A clothes-drier composed ot'4 a series of frames, A B C, connected together by pivots or joints suspended on a wall or vertical support, and provided with bars D, all arranged substantially as described.
