Description

@niet gime stent @wie Y and Letters .Patent No. 96,773, dated November 16, 1869.
IMPROVED STOVE-PIPE SHELIEi AND CLOTHES-DRIIIR.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all 'whom fit may concern Be it known that I, NV. G. BURNHMI, of Blo nning Grove, in the county of Orange, and. State of' New York, have invented anew and improvedl Combined Stove-Pipe Shelf and Glothes-Drier; and I do hereby declare that the following is a-i'ull, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to animproved stove-pipe attachment, for use as a stove-pipe shelf and a clothesdrier, or frame for holding clothes around the pipe for drying, while serving as a shelf'also, for holding vessels containing food to be kept warm.
Figure 1 is a plan view of my improved attachment,
Figure 2 is a sectional elevation ofthe same, taken on the line x x.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is a curved shelf', made, preferably, of cast-iron, and in the form of grating, or with openings through it, and with a rim, B, projecting downward from the under side a short distance from the outer edges. It also has slotted lugs, C, projecting downward from the under side, near the central curved space for the stovepipe, to which space an opening is made for applying it to the pipe, so that the projections will bear upon the surface thereof, as represented in fig. 2, and hold the shelf' rmly in a horizontal position, when clamped up to the pipe by the rod D, going around the pipe, passing through the slots in the lugs, and receiving the screw thumb-nuts E, for clamping the' pipe and shelt` firmly together.
F represents the arms ofthe clothes-drier and frame, which are provided with hooks, G, near the rear and large ends, by which they are attached to the shelf, by hooking upon the oter edge thereof, while the rear ends bear up against the projecting rim B, so as to support the said bars radially and horizontally.
As many bars may be used as required, and they may be readily put on and taken off.
Having thus described my invention,
I -claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A compound shelf and clothes-drier, composed ot shelf` A, rim B, bars F, hook G, rod D, and thumbnuts, all arranged and attached to a stove-pipe, in the manner described.
The above specification of my invention signed 'by me, this 27th day of September, 1869,
W. O. BURNHAM.
