IMPROVEMENT IN CLOTHES-RACK The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the sama.

y Be it known that I, V. M. HEATH, of Morristown, in the county of Lamoill, and in the State of Vermont, have invented certain -new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Racks; and do hereby declare that the following,r is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', leierence being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of thisvspecification.

The rature of my invention consists inthe construction of a clothes-rack, which can be easily and readily folded up, when not in use, and in the arrangement of the devices hereafter set forth and explained.

The accompanying drawing represents a perspective view of my rack.

Letter A represents the supports, by means of which the rack is secured to the wall, and which have a vertical slot cut' in their tops, so that they can be slipped over a screw or pin, upon which they are to hang.

By means of these slots the rack can be put up and taken down in a moment, or if it is desired to retain it in one place, the lower ends can also be secured by the means of screws.

Or these supports may also be hung up, by means of the hooks B, which extend outward from their sides.

Extending from one support to the other, and passing out beyond their sides, is the bar C, the ends of which serve as a pivot to the two arms D and G.

The ends of these arms are joined together by the bars H, upon which the clothes are to be hung.

The liar which joins the two', arms G together, ex tends out through its sides, so as t0 form pivots, on which the arms K turn, and thus these arms andbars may be u'lultiplied indefinitely, there being small braces, r1., secured to the sidesA of the arms, so as to prevent'them from dropping too far down.

4When there is a small number of pieces only to be dried, only a portion of the rack need be lowered, while the other part remains turned up, out ofthe way.

Having thus described my invention,

. lVhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

'lhe combination of the slotted supports A, bars C and l, arms D, G, and K, and braces a, when arranged to operate as herein described, and for the purposes specified.
