A FILE FOR POINTING LEAD-PENCILS, 84.0.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 511,338, dated December 26, 1893.

To all whom it may 007006710:
Be it known that I, ERNST JOSEPH KOESTER, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing at Harkorten, in the Kingdom of Prussia, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in or Relating to Files for Pointing Lead-Pencils and the Like, of which the following is a specification.
My invention includes a file having downwardly bent fet to support it over the bottom of the box and other features hereinafter pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings, Figure 1, shows a box with Fig. 2, shows the file removed. Fig. 3, shows a difierent form of file box. Fig. 4, shows a file having feet substantially the same as those in Fig. 1, and arranged in a box which has upward extensions bent around the file. Fig. 5, is a cross section on line x-oc of Fig. 5. 7
In Figs. 1 and 2 the file bis shown with feet 1) adapted to enter the guide ways between the blocks a of the box a and support the file over the box bottom. The box slides within a cover portion 0. In Fig. 3,the same form of file b, is used but the box a has a hinged cover 0 In Fig. 4., the file 11 has feet b which in effect are like those previously described.
The box a in this case, however, has extensions a with lip or log portions which are bent around the file to hold the same in place. The form of these lip or log portions is shown in Fig. 5 in dotted lines while the full lines show how they are bent around the file.
I claim- 1. In combination, the box and the file having the feet at its opposite ends both of which are bent downwardly to rest on the bottom of the box and bear on the ends of the same, said feet serving to support the file above the bottom of the box and maintain it in proper position against longitudinal displacement.
2. In combination, the box having the upward extensions, and the file supported there in by said extensions, substantially as described.
3. In combination, the box and the file, said file being held by portions of the receptacle bent about it, substantially as described.
