Description

. .1. ANDERSON,
BARRE?. STAND.
APPLsc/xflon m50 APH. 16, 191s.
Pnanted Dec; N18.
JOHNNY.v ANDERSON, OF FRANKLIN, MINNESOTA;
BARREL-STAND.
Application led April 1G. 1918.
T 0 all 'wlw/L t may concern Be it known that I, J onx J. ANDERSON, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Franklin, in the county of Renville and State otl Minnesota, have invented a new and Improved Barrel-Stand, of which the following is a full. clear. and exact description. v
An object of my invention is to provide a simple, inexpensive and convenient barrel stand by means ot which a barrel can be easily balanced to facilitate the discharge of the contents of same.
Vith the above and other objects in view, the nature of which will more fully appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement ot' parts as herein fully described, illustrated and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part ot the application, similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a. side elevation ot the stand which is shown with a barrel carried or supportedtherein;A
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the barrel stand with the barrel supported by the stand;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view ot the stand;
Fig. 4: a perspective view of the lever; and
Fig. 5 is a plan of the clamp. y
Referring to the drawings` 6 are, tho horses, preferably shaped ot' angle iron, each braced near the open end by a member 7 and united at the ends by members 8. Each horse has a notch 9 in the top th'ereot', preferably toward one side, that is, off the central plane of the horses. These notches form bearings for headed trunnions 10 extending outwardly from the lever 11 shaped into a U, the trunnions being near the open end ot' the U and constituting the fulcrums of the lever 11.
The extremities ot' the lever are depressed inwardly'and have openings 1Q into which enter trunnions 13 of a clamp 14. In consequence, the .clamp 141 is pivotally mounted in the lever 11, which lever is, in turn, fulcrumed on the stand.` The heads of the Specification of Letters Patent.

lever 11 when the lever is near the connect# mg member S. When the barrel 15 is supported as shown in Fig. 1 it may be tilted in any desired position on its pivot without much effort. It is self-evident that the 'U- shaped lever is long enough to allow the ends ot' the barrel/to clear within the lever.
I claim 1. )t barrel stand comprising in combination. a pair of horses, means connecting said horses near the bottom, said horses having notches in the top, a U-shaped lever of the trst class having headed trunnions adapted to engage the notches ot the horses, the heads ot' said trunnions preventing said horses from spreading, and a clamp adapted to ene'affe a barrel having trunnions bearingl in thi; eiids of said U-shaped lever. y
Q. .lt barrel stand comprising in combination. a pair of horses, means connecting said horses near the bottom to maintain said horses in a` predetermined relation, each of said horses having a notch in the top, a U- shaped lever ot' the first class having headed trunnions between the ends adapted to engage the notches of the horses, the 'heads of said trunnions preventing said horses from separating at the top. and a clamp adapted to engage a barrel having trunnions, said U-shaped lever having the extremity of same disposed forwardly and openings in said depressed ends for engaging the trunnions ot the clamp.
JOHN J. ANDERSON.
