SUSPENDERS.

SIECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. {193,990, dated March 21, 1893.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that 1, MICHAEL FELDMAN, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Suspenders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of the invention is to provide certain new and useful improvements in suspenders, whereby great comfort is insured to the wearer, as the rear suspender ends readily adjust themselves on the shoulder straps according to the movement of the wearers body.

The invention consists of certain parts and details, and combinations of the same, as will be hereinafter described and then pointed out in the claim.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which the figure is a face view of the improvement.

Theimproved suspenders are provided with a connection A, preferably made of leather or other suitable material and bent approximately U-shaped, as shown in the drawing, the flat ends A and A being rigidly connected with the rear ends of the shoulder straps B and B, respectively. The middle portion A of the connection A is curved and rounded in cross section and this part is loosely engaged by a loop 0, formed on the plate 0, carrying the rear suspender end D, of any approved construction.

It will be seen that the plate 0 carrying the rear suspender end D can readily slide on the curved portion A of the connection A, soas to adjust itself according to the movement of the wearers body, thus relieving the suspender of all undue strain.

The ends A'and A of the connection A are connected with each other bya band E, made of an elastic webbing or other suitable elastic material. The band E gives sufliciently to permit the rear ends of the shoulder straps B and B to be drawn apart in case of undue strain on one of the shoulder straps only, the said band serving to draw the ends A andA back again into their normal position, as soon as the wearers body assumes a normal erect position.

It will be seen that the connection is extremely simple in construction, is readily at tached to the shoulder straps, and forms a convenient means for adjustably supporting the rear suspender end D.

Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent v A suspender provided with aconnection for the rear ends of the shoulder straps, the said connection being approximately U -shaped and fastened at its ends to the shoulder straps, the middle portion forming a bearing for the rear suspender ends, and an elastic band connecting the ends of the connection with each 65 other, substantially as shown and described.
