UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SOLOMON C. LANGFELD, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR, BY MESNE ASSIGN- MENTS, TO AUGUST GOERTZ. d
PURsE.
SPECIFICATION frming' part 0f Letters Patent N0. 484,101, dated October 11, 1892. I
Application'led August 27, 1889. Serial No. 322,104- (NO 111011610 To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, SOLOMON OLANGFELD, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented cetain new and useful Improvements in Purses, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of the same. l
My invention relates to a new article of manufacture; and it consists in a purse to the Inetal rim of which is attached a bonbonnire or receptacle for candy, tobacco, &c.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which similar parts in the several views are indicated by similar letters.
Figure 1 represents a front view of my improved purse with the bonbonniere attached; Fig. 2, a sectional view of the samethrough the line x Fig. 1; Fig. 3, a plan view of the purse, showing the position when closed and ready to slip into the pocket or carry in the hand.
In the gures, B represents the pocket of a purse furnished at its upper end with a circular rim of metal P, furnished with a latch or clasp S.
At 712 is a hinge or similar mechanism, by which a bonbonnire or similar receptacle is attached to the rim. This bonbonnire is furnished with a latch N, adapted to engage with the clasp S in the rim 'of the purse. When the bonbonniereis latched or fastened to the rim of the purse, the purse is closed. The bonbonnire or receptacle is furnished with a lid C, hinged or otherwise fastened to the body R of the receptacle and catching in closing at r.
It is obvious that the purse and its metal rim and the bonbonnire or receptacle may be made in various shapes and sizes to suit compactness and utility makes it desirable,
and, as either the purse or bonbonnire can be opened separately, it possesses all the advantages to be derived from each article.
The material of which the purse-pocket is to be made and the manner in which the purse-pocket is formed and attached toits rim Inay be varied to suit. the demands of the market, and the size of the purse may be varied, without departing from my invention.
Having fully described my invention, what I desire to claim and obtain by Letters Patent is l. A purse or bag having at its mouth a pair of lids hinged to the supporting-frame thereof, the outer lid closing upon the inner one, the inner one forming a chamber or receptacle as Well as a cover for the month of the purse or bag, and suitable fastening devices for the same.
2. A purse and bonbonnire combined, consistin g of a pouch or sack provided with a metallic rim or frame at the upper end or mouth thereof, to which is hinged a bonbonnire provided with a lid and serving as a cover for the mouth of the pouch or sack, and devices for holding the bonbonnire in closed relation to the pouch or sack and the lid in closed relation to said bonbonniere, substantially as set
