UNITED STATES MAX SACHS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
HAND BAG.
Application filed June 1?, 192's. SeriaLNo. 37,740. i
To all whom it may concern: 7
Be it known that I, MAX Snons, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, Far Rockaway, borough of Queens, in the county of Queens and State of. NewPYOrk, have invented a new and Improved Hand Bag, of which the fol lowing is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relatesto ladies hand bags and has for an object to provide an improved construction wherein a bag of substantially the usual appearance is presented but so formed as to have a secret compartment opening from the bottom of the bag and a secret container in the secret compartment.
Another object of the invention is to provide a ladys hand bag with a pair of frames at the bottom acting to support closure means and also articles not readily carried in the body of the bag. g
A still further object of the invention is to provide a hand bag which is formed with a body of substantially the usual construc tion for ordinary use and a hinged bottom structure formed with means for carrying cosmetics, cigarettes and the like.
In the accompanying drawing- 7 Figure 1 is av perspective view of a bag 1 disclosing an embodimentof the invention,
the bottom being shown open.
Figure 2 is a sectional view on an enlarged scale throughFigure 1, the section being taken on line 22 thereof.
Figure 3 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view through Figure 2 on line 3-3.
Figure 4: is a fragmentary perspective view similar to the lower part of Figure 1 but showing a slightly modified construction.
Referring to the accompanying drawing by numeral. 1 indicates the body of the bag which is provided with a frame 2 of any preferred or usual construction connected to gether by suitable snap knobs 3. The body 1 is formed with an outside covering portion at and an inner portion or bag 5. When the fastener 3 is disengaged and the frame 2 opened in the usual manner, the bag 5 will be disclosed, which bag is adapted to be used in the usual manner of hand bags. As il lustrated in Figure 2, there is aspace 6 between the 5 and the cover 4:, said space being adapted to accommodate any desired article,'as for instance, a secretjcontainer 7 stitchedat 8 to the cover 4 and tothe frame section 9. A draw string 10 is provided at one end of the secret pocket 7 to. retain any article placed therein. This pocket orcontainer is particularly designed for receiving large bills or jewelry and when positioned as shown in Figure 2, will be out of the way and also it will be in a position impossible for a thief to steal through the bag 5. Associated with the section 9 is a section 11 forming a complete frame which is hingedly connected together at one point and removably locked. together at another point in any suitable manner, as for instance, by the sliding catch 12. This frame is substantially elliptical and presents a flat bottom for the bag more or less ornamental and which does not indicate that the bag can be opened at this point. Preferably, the bag 5 is of less depth than the cover 4 so that there is a space below the bag 5 which is adapted to befilled by suitable articles 13 and 14 which are shown in Figures 1 and 2 as containers for holding cosmetics. Suitable straps or holding members 15 and 16 are provided, which hold these cosmetic containers in place. If preferred, instead of mounting cosmetic containers on the bottom 17, a. pocket 18 could be provided for receiving cigarettes 19 or other articles. It will be noted that the pocket 18 or the cosmetic holders do not in any way interfere with the secret pocket or container 7 or do not interfere with placing other articles between the'bag 5 and cover 4. By providing the construction set forth, abag of substantially any desired. appearance may-be made and yet one or more secret containers or holding members may be provided.
What I claim is: 1. A ladys hand bag, comprising an outside cover, a bag arranged in said cover, a frame connected to the upper edge of said cover and also to the upper edge of said bag so that the interior ofthe bag will have the appearance of being interior of the cover, a second fI'EtIHG COIIDGCtQd. with the bottom of said cover, said second frame being formed with a hinged section, means connected with said cover presenting a secret container nor mally positioned between the bag and cover and extending to .said second frame, and means carried by the hinged section of said second frame for supporting articles thereon said hinged section being adapted to be swung to an open position for permitting access to the secret container from the bottom of the bag.
2. A ladys hand bag comprising a body formed with the usual frame and fastening means therefor and with a bag acting as a lining, a second frame connected to the bottom of said body, said second frame having a hinged portion so that access may be had from the bottom of the body to the interior of the body but exteriorly of said lining, and a flexible container connected to said body near the frame and normally extending into the space exteriorly of said lining.
3. A hand bag, comprising a body formed with an outside cover, an inner bag or lining, a frame connected with said bag or lining and said cover so that the bag or lining may act in the usual manner for receiving articles, a second frame connected with the bottom of said cover, said second frame having a hinged section for permitting access to the interior of the body from the bottom thereof, a plurality of strap members acting as means for holding articles on said hinged section, and a flexible bag having means at one end for closing the same and connected at the other end to said cover, said flexible bag being positioned between said lining and said cover.
