W. BGLIN.
URINAL AND PATROL BOX.
No. 478,505. Patented July 5, 1892.
Wl TNE SSE S A" /NVENTOH BMMQW UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
W'ILLIAV EGLIN, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR 0F ONE- IIALF TO .IOllN' L. IlILL, OF SAME PLACE.
U RINAL AND PATROL-BOX.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 478,505, dated July 5, 1892.
Application filed December 19, 189i. Serial No. 415,569. (No model.)
To all whom it 71mg concern.:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM EGLIN, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, having resided in the United States one year last past and declared my intention of becoming a citizen thereof, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a newand useful Improvement in a Combined Urinal and ,latrol-llox, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.
Myinveution consists of a combined uri nal and patrol-box, the construction and operation heilig hereinafter fully set forth.
Figure 1 represents a front elevation of a combined urinal and patrotbox embodying my invention. Fig. i2 represents a horizontal section on line .fc .'r, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 represents a vertical section of a portion.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
Referring to the drawings, A designates a uriual, and i3 designates a patrol-hex, which is connected therewith.
U designates the rear wall of the frame of the urinal, and I) designates the rear wall of the frame of the patrol-box, said walls being continuous of each other.
E designates one of the walls of the iframe of the patrol-box, the same being opposite to the entrancepassagc I" of the urinal, said wall serving to guide persousto said passag and also preventing the entrance from being seen from any point corresponding to the inner side or the rear of the patrol-box.
The Walls D E diverge from their places of connection with the wall C of the urinal to the other walls G and II of the frame of the patrol-box, thus forming the chamber .I in the rear of the patrol-box, the same being a lateral extension of the chamber proper of the box, providing increased room therein for storage of hose, &c. The box is supplied with a telephone, clothes-hooks, a seat, and other appurtenances and conveniences.
r1`he inclosure formed hy the walls I), II, G, and E is provided with a door or inlet L, whereby ingress or egress is had.
The floor I( is common to both the urinal and box, and the posts or columns thereof are secured to the former. This adds to the strength of the connection of the two parts, and also prevents overturning of the same, as a broad base is presented, the etlect of which is evident.
Ilaviug thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
I. A urinal and ],atrolbo\v having the rear walls thereof continuous of each other and a side wall common to both thc urinal and box, substantially as described.
A patrol-box and a urinal, the former having its side wall forminga guide and guard for the entrance-passage of the urinal, subst'antially as d escribed.
3. In aeombined urinal and patrol-box, the rear walls of the frames of said parts bei ng contin nous of each other, in combination with the side wall of the patrol-box, diver-ging from the rear wall thereof, forming a guide and guard for the entrance-passage of thc urinal and producing with the rcar wall of the patrol-box a storage-chamber, substantially as described.
4. 'lhc wall C,for1ning an inclosurc A, with the entrance F, and the walls D, II, E, and G, forming an inclosure B, the Wall E being opposite the said entrance E, and the said inclosure B having a door or inlet, substantially as described.
WILLIAM EGLIN.
