Be it known that I, LIZZIE SPIKEs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kaufman, in the county of Kaufman and State of Texas, have invented a new and useful Table-Screen, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to improvements in screens. f

The object of the present invention is to provide a screen of strong and durable construction, adapted to be supported from the ceiling of a room and be arranged above a table, and be lowered thereon and entirely cover the same and securely prevent access of flies to the contents of the table.

The invention consists in t-he construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts, hereinafterlfully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereto appended.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a screen, showing the same suspended and arranged above the table. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the screen. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view. Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view.

Referring to the drawings, l designates the base of a screen, which is designed to be supported above a table 2 by means of ropes 3, each of which has one end secured to eyes 4 projecting through the top of the screen,and is passed over a pulley 5, and has its other end secured to an eye 6, arranged near the end of the screen and constructed similarly to the eyes 4. The base 1 of the screen is rectangular in form, and extends entirely around the edges ofthe table 2,in order that the semicircular screen 7, secured upon the base, may completely cover the table and prevent access of ies to the top thereof. The rectangular base 1 is composed of side pieces 8 and end pieces 9, that are constructed of sheet metal and have their longitudinal edges bent at right angles and forming iianges 10 and 11, the lower ones of which provide a broad bearing for the base and prevent the latter scratching or marring the table.

of the screen and secured to the rectangular base. The ends of the curved or arched wires 12, that brace the screen, are soldered or similarly secured to the rectangular base in a manner like the edges of the screen. The eyes 4 and 6 extend through the top of the screen and are secured to the ridge-wire 13. It will readily be seen that the screen is simple, strong, and durable, and is adapted to be supported above a table to entirely cover the same and exclude flies and other insects from the contents thereof. The ends of the wires extend through the upper flanges and are secured and braced by plates 15, arranged within the flanges.

Having thus described my invention, I claim- A screen comprising the base constructed of sheet metal and provided with flanges at the top and bottom thereof, the lower anges being arranged to rest upon the top of the table around the edges thereof, the semi-cylindrical wire-gauze screen securedk to the flanges at the top of the base, the curved or arched wires arranged parallel with each other and supporting the semi-cylindrical screen portion, and the ridge-wire arranged at right angles to the curved wire and provided with wires or loops extending through the top of the screen, and the ropes or cords secured to the innermost eyes and designed to be passed over suitable pulleys or the like and have 'their ends secured to the outer eyes, substantially as and for the purpose described.
