J OHANN LUND, OF IRVINGTON-ON-HUDSON, NEW YORK.
SHELVING AND DISPLAY-RACK.
Application filed February 28, 1911.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 26, 1911.
Serial No. 611,404.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHANN LUND, a subject of the Kaiser of Germany, residing at Irvington-on-Hudson, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shelving and Display-Racks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to shelving and display racks and its object is to provide a simple and efiectual device easily set up or taken down without the aid of bolts or nails as will be more fully described in the following specification, set forth in the claims and illustrated in the drawings, wherein,
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device. Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing two sections of shelving supporting each other. Fig. 3 is a detail sectional view. Fig. 4: is a view showing a different arrangement of the shelving.
This shelving consists of a series of boards 5 supported by means of metal frames 6 which are arranged in steps to carry the boards as best shown in Fig. 2. The frame 6 may be secured to the floor by means of screws and are adapted to be used in pairs, the end sections 7 being arranged to abut against each other to support the boards 5.
' The boards 5 are secured to the frames by means of cords 8 arranged as shown in Fig. 3, wherein it will be seen that the boards are perforated so that the cord 8 may pass through same and be wrapped around the frame and then pass to the perforation 9 in .the adjacent board. In this way the boards are held against the frame and may be quickly placed in position, one end 10 of the cord being knotted while the other end may be secured as desired.
In the modified form shown in Fig. 4:, several boards may be placed edge to edge and a pin 11 driven through the perforation, thus'providing a wide surface to be used as desired.
It is obvious that other modifications may be resorted to in the construction and arrangement of the parts without departing from the essential features above described.
WVhat I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,
In a display rack, the combination with a frame made up of supports having horizontal and vertical port-ions, of a series of slats secured together by cords passing through openings between the upper and lower slats and adapted to conform with and be supported by the members of the frame, and means for attaching the slats to the frame by means of the uniting cords.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
J OHANN LUND.
