ERIC DAVID EWVEN, OF TOBAGO, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, BRITISH VEST INDIES.
CIGARETTE-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 433,335, dated July 29, 1890. Application filed September 16, 1389. Serial No. 324,105. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ERIc DAVID EWEN, of Tobago, in the Colony of Trinidad and Tobago, British West Indies, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Gigarette-Holders, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specification.
My object is to make for the use of cigarette-smokers a lightand simple device for holding a cigarette, said device consisting of a clasp adapted to fit the finger, from which a light stem extends which has at its end a second clasp which embraces the cigarette. This object I attain by the mechanism shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view showing one of my articles in use. Figs. 2 and 3 are elevations of the same, the plane of view of one being at right angles to that of the other.
In Fig. 1, C represents the cigarette, A the holder, and F the users finger. The holder is formed of a strip of metal bent so as to form the finger-clasp B, from which two members a a extend to the point I) and are there bent so that their plane is above I) at right angles to that below Z), the two members a and co terminating in a clasp D, adapted to i hold a cigarette, as shown.
H is a ring-follower placed on the lower part of the device and serves as a lock or keeper for holding the two members firmly about the finger of the user.
E is a ring-follower placed on the upper part of the article and serves as a lock or keeper for holding the upper ends of the two members firmly about the cigarette.
I donot confine myself to the exact construction of the holder, as it may be made in a variety of ways and yet be essentially like the device that I have selected as an example ERIC DAVID EWEN. \Vitnesses:
